JBL claims up to 80 hours of Bluetooth music playback with ANC off or up to 50 hours with ANC on; those are manufacturer estimates, not independently measured results. TechRadar’s September 11, 2026 review found competent sound, but noted powerful bass, less prominent treble, underwhelming spatial audio, and pressure on the top of the head during long sessions.
What the JBL Live 680NC offers
The Live 680NC is an on-ear, foldable headphone with 40 mm drivers, four microphones, and Bluetooth 6.0, according to JBL’s US product listing and specification sheet. Its feature set includes True Adaptive Noise Cancelling 2.0, Ambient Aware, TalkThru, multipoint, app controls, spatial sound, and call functions. TechRadar’s September 2026 review also discusses Auracast support.

Multipoint is intended to connect two Bluetooth devices at once. JBL describes the feature this way: “Pair with two Bluetooth devices at once and switch without missing a beat.” That is JBL’s product claim, rather than an independent test finding.
How long does the battery last?
JBL’s published maximums are up to 80 hours of Bluetooth music playback with ANC off and up to 50 hours with ANC on. The manufacturer’s specification sheet is dated 2025, and the product page repeats both figures. Actual playback time may vary; the reviewed sources do not establish an independent runtime test.

How do they sound?
TechRadar’s reviewer described the Live 680NC’s sound as competent but not especially inspiring. The review reports a strong bass presentation and a slightly rolled-off high end; listeners who like bass-forward music may enjoy that balance, while those seeking more treble detail may not. The reviewer also found spatial audio underwhelming in practice. These are subjective impressions from that review, not results of testing presented here.

JBL lists app controls and EQ choices among the available features, giving users ways to adjust the sound. An equalizer can change tonal balance, but it does not establish that the default tuning will suit every listener.

Are they comfortable for long listening sessions?
JBL describes the fit as lightweight and shaped for comfort. TechRadar’s reviewer, however, reported pressure at the top of the head during longer listening sessions. Since the Live 680NC is an on-ear design, fit and pressure are especially personal considerations; the review’s experience should not be treated as a guarantee that every wearer will feel the same way.

What comes in the box?
JBL’s US product listing includes a carrying pouch, a USB Type-C-to-analog 3.5 mm audio cable, warranty and warning material, and a quick-start guide. It marks the charging cable as not included. The supplied 3.5 mm cable is for wired audio; it is not a USB cable for charging the headphones.
JBL says its Smart Tx transmitter is sold separately and can connect to 3.5 mm or USB-C sources. It is an optional accessory, not a requirement for using the headphones.

Who should consider the JBL Live 680NC?
The Live 680NC is most compelling if you want an on-ear, foldable design, a large set of connectivity and listening features, and JBL’s long maximum battery-life claims. The trade-offs to weigh are the reviewer’s bass-heavy sound impression, less prominent treble, disappointing spatial audio, and reported head pressure during extended use.
- A stronger fit: You value long stated runtime, ANC, multipoint, app controls, and a portable on-ear form.
- Consider carefully: You are sensitive to bass, prioritize treble detail or spatial audio, or often wear headphones for long uninterrupted sessions.
- Check before buying: You need a charging cable included, or want to confirm the current regional price, stock, return policy, and warranty terms.
When comparing alternatives, use like-for-like ANC-on and ANC-off runtime figures, sound and EQ options, fit, multipoint and app support, weight, included accessories, and current local pricing. On-ear and over-ear models are not interchangeable comfort comparisons, and the reviewed sources do not provide a broad standardized test against competing models.
