The CDP method is Chrome-specific, and its Java binding varies by Selenium/CDP version, so verify it against your installed dependencies and the page you need to capture.
How do I take a full-page screenshot with Selenium in Java?
Use Selenium 4’s Chrome DevTools integration, enable the Page domain’s captureBeyondViewport option, decode the returned Base64 data, and write the image bytes to a file. The example below illustrates the sequence; the Page API import and command signature are version-specific.
Selenium’s standard screenshot documentation demonstrates TakesScreenshot for the current browsing context, not a guaranteed full-page capture. By contrast, the Chrome DevTools Protocol’s Page.captureScreenshot command defines captureBeyondViewport, which defaults to false.
Version-specific Java example
The following pattern is based on Selenium 4.22.0’s versioned DevTools v124 API. It is not guaranteed to compile unchanged with other Selenium or Chrome versions. In particular, the generated Page.captureScreenshot method signature and Page-domain package can differ.

It measures content dimensions for inspection, but the CDP command’s behavior should still be checked against the output for your browser version and page. Do not assume every combination of format, clipping, and viewport dimensions behaves identically across versions.
Before running it
- Use a Selenium Java dependency that includes its DevTools bindings for the Chrome/CDP version you intend to use. Confirm the generated Page command and parameters in that dependency’s API documentation.
- Ensure Chrome and ChromeDriver have matching major versions. Selenium’s Chrome guidance says Selenium 4 is compatible with Chrome 75 and greater and advises matching browser and driver major versions.
- Replace
https://example.comwith a URL you are authorized to automate. Add an explicit wait for the product grid, page footer, or other essential content rather than treating navigation completion as proof that all deferred content has loaded. - Compile against the matching generated DevTools package. For a version other than v124, update the import and adapt the arguments to that version’s documented method signature; do not copy the v124 signature blindly.
What should I use instead of the CDP method?

Multiple viewport captures stitched together are another possible approach, but the sources cited here do not establish how its behavior or reliability compares with CDP capture. Choose it only if you can validate scrolling, sticky elements, overlaps, and seams for your own page.
How do I validate a screenshot of an Indian ecommerce page?

- Wait explicitly for the content that must appear, such as product cards, prices, or the final page section. A page-load event alone does not prove that deferred images or dynamic sections have rendered.
- Open the saved PNG and check that the bottom of the page is present, not just the initial viewport.
- Inspect lazy-loaded images, sticky headers, overlays, cookie dialogs, and any locale- or session-specific sections. Treat these as validation checks, not assumed site behavior.
- Keep the browser viewport, session, and relevant locale or geolocation settings consistent with the scenario you are testing, then repeat the capture if those conditions change.
- Store artifacts securely and avoid retaining personal, payment, or account information in screenshots.
Troubleshooting common failures
The code does not compile: Page package or method arguments do not match
The example uses the Selenium 4.22.0 DevTools v124 binding. Check which DevTools version your Selenium dependency exposes, then use that version’s Page package and method signature. Do not mix generated CDP classes from different versions.

The image contains only the initial viewport
Confirm that the call sets captureBeyondViewport to true and that the binding maps that argument to the documented option. Check the screenshot output and the CDP version in use; a standard WebDriver screenshot call does not substitute for the beyond-viewport option.
Product images or lower sections are missing
Wait for the relevant page elements and deferred content before capture. A completed navigation is not evidence that every image has loaded. Inspect the target page under the same viewport and session conditions used by the test.
