RotoWire reported on 11 September 2026 that Rayo Vallecano coach Beñat San José said Balliu had taken a very heavy tackle against Racing and had a battered ankle. “Battered ankle” is the coach-attributed description in that report, not a clinical diagnosis. It does not establish a sprain, fracture, or other specific injury.
Was Balliu expected to play against Real Madrid?
The 11 September report said Balliu was doing what he could to be ready for the following Saturday’s match against Real Madrid. That described an attempt to be available, not confirmed selection or proof that he played. It is a dated update, not a current status report as of 3 October 2026.
