What happened in Yasuf?
Reuters reported that settlers attacked a home on the outskirts of Yasuf and that Palestinian officials said settlers shot two Palestinians, killing one. WAFA, the official Palestinian news agency, placed the attack in Al-Nasba, east of the village, and said Yassin died from injuries sustained in the attack.
WAFA identified the deceased as Mashhour Shaher Yassin, 51, and attributed confirmation of his death to Mohammad Al-Ramahi, director of Salfit Governmental Hospital. Reuters rendered his name as Mashour Yassin and also reported his age as 51.
What do the reports say about who fired?
The accounts do not establish a single agreed sequence or identify an uncontested source of the shots that caused the reported injuries.

The reports therefore differ both over who fired the shots that injured Palestinians and over when military personnel arrived. They should not be read as one jointly confirmed account.
What did local officials say about the outpost?
Abdel Fattah told Reuters that the assailants came from the direction of an outpost near Yasuf that he said had been established about two months earlier. He described a continuing pattern of attacks, saying: “The settlers have been attacking the village continuously since the outpost was established,” he added. This is his attributed account; the reports cited here do not independently verify the outpost’s establishment date or the alleged pattern.

What is known about the wider toll?
Reuters cited the United Nations as saying that more than 80 Palestinians had been killed by Israel’s military and settlers in the West Bank since the beginning of 2026. Reuters did not provide the underlying UN dataset, an exact count, or a breakdown by perpetrator, so the figure should be understood as a broad cumulative total reported at that time, not a count attributable solely to settlers.
What remains unclear?
- The reports do not provide a complete, independently verified timeline of the attack and military response.
- They do not establish whether a formal Israeli investigation was opened, whether suspects were identified or arrested over Yassin’s death, or whether the military later issued a fuller account.
WAFA also reported several detentions and relayed a local source’s claim that an ambulance was held and its key taken. Those additional allegations have not been independently resolved in the reports cited here.
