What Google’s September update confirms
Google said the monthly update began a phased rollout on September 15, 2026, to supported Pixel devices running Android 17. The global software version listed for the models named in the announcement is CP3A.260905.009. Rollout timing can differ by device and carrier, so the announcement does not mean every Pixel received the same build at the same time. The notice lists fixes across several parts of the phone. It does not give an affected-user count or establish that the September update caused any particular reader’s problem. A listed fix confirms that Google addressed that described issue; it is not a measure of how common the issue was.

Google’s notice describes these issue types. The fixes do not all apply to every Pixel model; check the notice’s device footnotes before assuming a particular fix covers your phone.

- Apps: A Google app could crash under certain conditions, and certain gaming apps could crash when opened on listed models.
- Wi-Fi and Bluetooth: On listed Pixel 10 family devices, a condition could prevent Wi-Fi or Bluetooth from being enabled.
- Camera: A stability problem could crash the system on Pixel Tablet.
- Display and graphics: Graphics-intensive work could cause game lag, choppy frame rates and higher device temperatures.
- Framework and system behavior: The update addresses a system crash during app installation, removal or updating; delays involving the Android System Intelligence database that could leave a device unresponsive; magnification shortcuts that could reverse scrolling after quick swipes; widgets disappearing after a restart; and on-device intelligence features failing when force dark mode is enabled.
- Mobile network: Under certain conditions, a phone could fail to connect to mobile networks or experience unexpected service interruptions.
- Interface: Listed problems include media-player animation, external-display crashes, taskbar-folder crashes in Overview, notifications that could not be swiped away or were clipped on the lock screen, wallpaper subject separation, language refresh in the notification shade, overlapping text, and lag when opening the Internet panel.
Google says the fixes are available for supported Pixel devices unless otherwise specified, and notes that some availability may depend on carrier or region. The relevant device footnote is the best guide to whether an individual fix applies to your model.
Check your model, Android version and build
If you are trying to match a symptom to the announcement, first identify exactly which phone and software version you have. On your Pixel, open Settings > About phone to check the model and build information, and look under Settings > System > Software updates for update status. Labels can vary slightly by Android version.

- Note your exact Pixel model, Android version and build number.
- Compare the build number with CP3A.260905.009 and the model-specific notes in Google’s update announcement.
- Check whether the symptom matches one of the listed issues, including any qualifying conditions in the notice.
- If the update is not yet offered, allow for the phased rollout and check again later; availability can depend on your device and carrier.
Recording your carrier or region and whether the issue began before or after installing the build can help describe the problem clearly. Those details alone do not prove that the update caused it. If the problem continues, contact Google Pixel support or use the support options available for your device.
Keep the Pixel Drop separate from the bug fixes
Google also announced a September Pixel Drop, a separate feature rollout rather than the monthly list of software fixes. Its features are delivered in phases, and availability can vary by model, country and language. The September 2026 Pixel Drop announcement covers those features; it should not be read as evidence that a new feature caused a bug.
