Webull may be a reasonable U.S. brokerage to use, but “safe” depends on what you mean. Webull Financial LLC says it is registered with the SEC and is a FINRA and SIPC member, and it describes security controls including encryption and independent SOC 2 audits. Those facts do not guarantee against account compromise or investment loss. SIPC protection is limited to certain brokerage failures, FDIC coverage depends on eligible cash being enrolled in Webull Cash Management, and Webull says futures accounts are not SIPC-protected.
What “safe” means for a Webull account
Assess Webull along four separate lines: who operates the account, what protection applies to its assets, how the company reports securing accounts and systems, and how it collects and shares personal information. No one of these answers the others. Regulatory membership does not prevent market losses, insurance does not stop a stolen login, and cybersecurity controls do not determine how personal data is shared.

Webull Financial LLC offers self-directed securities trading and identifies itself as SEC-registered and a member of FINRA and SIPC. Webull’s disclosures identify Webull Futures LLC for futures and cleared swaps. The distinction matters: Webull explicitly says futures accounts are not protected by SIPC. Do not assume a protection described for a securities brokerage account applies to another Webull product.

Webull’s disclosures link to official FINRA BrokerCheck and NFA resources for checking firm information. Start with the legal entity named in your account documents, then verify the relevant firm and product rather than relying on the Webull brand name alone: Webull disclosures.
What SIPC protection does—and does not—cover
Webull states that standard SIPC protection can cover up to $500,000 per covered account, including a $250,000 limit for cash. SIPC protection is intended for certain situations involving a failed brokerage and missing customer property, subject to SIPC rules and account registration. It does not reimburse ordinary losses because an investment falls in value. Read Webull’s account-protection FAQ for its description of coverage.
Rank #2
Coverage is not a blanket guarantee for every balance, account type, or person. How accounts are registered and the applicable SIPC rules matter. Treat SIPC as a limited custody-failure safeguard, not a promise that your portfolio or cash cannot lose value.
How Webull describes excess SIPC coverage
Webull’s FAQ describes excess policies tied to different clearing arrangements. The headline aggregate limits are not individual customer guarantees; the customer-level sublimits and account structure are essential to interpreting them.
Rank #3
| Arrangement described by Webull | Aggregate policy limit | Customer-level limit described |
|---|---|---|
| Certain omnibus accounts with Apex | $100 million aggregate | $1.9 million cash sublimit per customer |
| Fully disclosed accounts | $150 million aggregate additional policy limit | Up to $37.5 million for one customer’s securities and $900,000 for one customer’s cash |
These are limits Webull describes in its current FAQ and disclosures, accessed in 2026; they are not a promise that any one customer will receive the maximum. Which arrangement applies depends on the clearing relationship and account type. See Webull’s protection FAQ for its explanation.
When Webull cash may have FDIC coverage
Webull says eligible uninvested cash enrolled in Cash Management is swept to partner banks and may receive FDIC coverage up to $5 million. The stated program has a $250,000 limit per bank, and coverage can be affected by other deposits you hold at the same bank in the same ownership capacity. The maximum is therefore conditional on enrollment and bank allocation; it is not FDIC insurance for every cash balance simply because it is held at Webull.
Webull says unenrolled cash is protected under SIPC only. Check your enrollment and the current program terms to see where cash is allocated and which limits apply. Webull’s Cash Management information describes the sweep program.

Webull reports annual independent SOC 2 audits, encryption of data at rest and in transit, access controls, backups, monitoring, vendor safeguards, and annual employee training. It also says auditors found no exceptions for an audit period. These are company-reported controls and audit results, not a guarantee of future performance or proof that an account cannot be compromised. Webull’s disclosure puts the general limitation plainly: “While we employ robust security measures, no system is completely immune to cyberattacks.”
Its public security page describes organization-level safeguards; it does not establish that a particular hardware security key or other consumer device is supported. For current details, consult Webull’s Privacy & Security page and check the app’s current login, account-recovery, alert, and unauthorized-activity options.

Webull Financial LLC’s Regulation S-P privacy notice says the company collects information when a customer opens an account, provides income details, makes deposits or withdrawals, and through other sources. It describes categories of sharing, including sharing with affiliates for business purposes and marketing, and explains a way to limit certain sharing.
That means it would be inaccurate to assume no personal information is shared. Read the Webull Financial Regulation S-P Privacy Notice for the current categories, available choices, and any state-specific terms that apply to you. Privacy terms and rights may vary by jurisdiction and can change.
A practical way to evaluate your own Webull setup
- Identify the product and entity. Check your account documents to determine whether you use securities brokerage, futures, or another product, and verify the named legal entity through the official regulatory resources linked from Webull’s disclosures.
- Classify each balance. Determine whether money is invested in securities, held as brokerage cash, or enrolled in the Cash Management sweep. Do not infer FDIC coverage without confirming sweep enrollment and bank placement.
- Check protection terms against the account. Review Webull’s current SIPC and excess coverage explanation, including account registration, applicable clearing arrangement, and customer-level limits.
- Review account-security options. In the current app or account settings, inspect login and recovery methods, transaction and login alerts, and the process for reporting unauthorized activity. The public security page alone does not confirm support for a specific authentication device.
- Read the privacy notice and make choices. Review what information may be collected and shared, then use the available opt-out or state-specific rights described in the current notice.
What the available disclosures do not establish
Webull’s public security materials describe its controls, but do not provide a dated independent breach statistic or a current regulator finding specific to Webull. That absence should not be treated as proof that no incident has occurred. The disclosures also cannot establish that every account will qualify for a stated protection limit; eligibility depends on the product, account and applicable program terms.
