What the AF500 does differently
Most dual-zone air fryers have two permanent baskets. The AF500 instead has one 10.4L drawer and a removable divider. With the divider in place, it forms two 5.2L zones; remove it to create one larger cooking area. That makes the format useful if you alternate between cooking separate foods and fitting a larger item.

Capacity, size and what comes in the box
The official UK store listing identifies the AF500UKCP. SharkNinja lists a 10.4L non-stick drawer, two non-stick crisper plates, one divider and silicone tongs in the box, along with dishwasher-safe components. Its listed dimensions are 55.91 × 37.9 × 40.79 cm, weight 9.21 kg, voltage 240 V and power 2,470 W. These figures apply to the AF500UKCP listing, not every AF500 variant. UK independent review listings for the AF500UK give different dimensions: 32.7 × 49.6 × 31.6 cm, stated as height × width × depth, and Woman & Home lists a weight of 9.4 kg. These should not be blended with the manufacturer’s AF500UKCP figures: SKU and measurement convention differ. Independent reviewers describe the appliance as large and dominant on the worktop. Ideal Home says it needs substantial worktop or cupboard space and considers it too large for a single-person household. Before buying, measure the counter space, allow for the drawer to be pulled out and handled, and consider where the appliance will live when not in use.
Cooking functions and two-zone controls
The AF500UK is listed with seven functions: Air Fry, Max Crisp, Roast, Bake, Reheat, Dehydrate and Prove. Its split configuration lets you cook two foods at once, while the controls provide two different ways to coordinate the zones:

The divider creates two cooking zones inside the shared drawer, not two independently accessible baskets. Ideal Home notes that you cannot open one side without opening the drawer. If you often want to check or remove one food while the other continues, a conventional two-basket design may suit that workflow better.

Can you bake bread in it?
Argos’s product Q&A includes a manufacturer response saying the AF500UK has Bake and Prove functions and can be used to make bread with a suitably sized oven-safe tin. The response suggests reducing oven-recipe temperatures by about 10°C for Bake and using 35°C for proving. Treat that as model-specific retailer guidance rather than a universal conversion: tin size, recipe and the instructions for your exact appliance matter. Who is the FlexDrawer best suited to?
- Consider it if you want the option to cook a larger item in one space as well as prepare two foods with different settings, and you have room for a large appliance.
- Look at another layout if independently opening one basket matters to you, your counter or cupboard space is tight, or you mainly cook small portions.
- Compare by more than litres: check internal drawer dimensions, how the food you cook will fit, the two-zone workflow, and whether Bake or Prove is useful to you.
The available independent review material highlights the AF500’s flexible layout and capacity for larger items, while identifying its footprint and shared drawer as practical compromises. It does not establish a controlled, like-for-like cooking-speed test or independent energy-use result, so those should not be treated as guaranteed household savings or performance advantages.
