Star Wars Zero Company is a single-player, turn-based tactics game set during the twilight of the Clone Wars. It launched on August 27, 2026, for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. Its appeal rests on tactical planning, squad customization, and a campaign that mixes missions with investigations and base management—not real-time action or multiplayer. Whether those ingredients make a satisfying whole is the key question; I have not played or independently tested the game, so this review weighs its documented features rather than claiming firsthand verdicts on combat quality or performance.
What kind of game is Star Wars Zero Company?
Electronic Arts published Star Wars Zero Company, developed by Bit Reactor in collaboration with Lucasfilm Games, with Respawn Entertainment also named as a collaborator in EA’s announcement. The game puts players in command of Hawks, a former Republic officer, and a hired crew recruited by Republic Intelligence.

Their target is the Separatist-aligned Infinite Coil and its leader, Kundri Fathom, before the Shadow Plague spreads. The campaign combines tactical operations and investigations with squad management between missions. That gives the premise a more covert, small-team angle on the Clone Wars than a story centered on large-scale battles.

Combat is turn-based: choose an action for an operator, see its result, then the opponent takes a turn. The emphasis is on planning and positioning, not reflexes or real-time control. Official materials also highlight building a squad around mission needs and developing bonds that unlock support abilities or combat synergies.
#1 Best Overall
- Standard Edition for PlayStation 5 (disc) includes the full Star Wars Zero Company game. Single-player turn-based tactics set in the twilight of the Clone Wars—lead Hawks and Zero Company in an intense campaign.
- Build your squad from clone troopers, scoundrels, astromechs and even a Jedi—combine abilities and gear in deep Tactical-Strategy combat.
- Plan at your base, adapt on dynamic battlefields and make decisions that shape missions and replayability in this cinematic Star Wars story.
- Customise Hawks and your operatives, tailor loadouts and unlock powerful squad synergies designed for Strategy, Turn-Based and Sci-Fi fans.
Between operations, the team returns to The Den. Players can recruit and customize operators, upgrade facilities, dispatch from a galaxy map, gather intelligence, and tailor squad appearances, loadouts, and abilities. This creates two connected layers: tactical decisions in the field and preparation between missions.
Those systems make squad composition and the usefulness of bonds central questions for anyone considering the game. Official descriptions establish that the options exist, but do not establish how much they change mission outcomes or how smoothly investigations and base management fit the battle-to-battle pace. That execution cannot be judged from feature descriptions alone.

Is it suitable for newcomers to tactics games?
StarWars.com says tutorials and on-screen tips introduce the systems, and that difficulty can be adjusted outside combat. Those features should give newcomers ways to learn and tune challenge without requiring an action-game skill set. The available information does not specify how granular the difficulty settings are, so players seeking particular accessibility options should check the current platform listing or game settings details before buying.

How long is the campaign?
EA Help estimates the main story at around 30 to 40 hours for most players. EA says actual playtime varies with difficulty and a player’s experience with turn-based tactics; this is the publisher’s estimate, not an independently measured average. Investigations and squad management are part of the campaign structure, but the estimate does not separately quantify optional content.

EA also announced a Collector’s Edition with a $299.99 launch suggested retail price, including a themed Hasbro Black Series Thermal Detonator, Steelbook, Desk Mat, and other items. Stock and current pricing may vary, so the announced price should not be treated as an available offer.
What do player reviews indicate?
Steam’s storefront showed 87% positive recent reviews from 6,262 reviews and 83% positive English reviews from 17,424 reviews when accessed on October 7, 2026. These are dated, dynamic storefront snapshots rather than a permanent score; the totals and percentages can change. They offer one signal about player reception, but do not replace deciding whether the game’s single-player, turn-based structure suits you.

Who should consider Star Wars Zero Company?
Based on its documented design, it is a plausible fit for players who want a Star Wars campaign built around deliberate squad tactics, character customization, and between-mission planning. Its stated onboarding aids may also make it worth a look for players new to the genre. It is a poor match for anyone specifically seeking multiplayer or real-time action. Without firsthand play, no reliable conclusion can be made here about tactical depth, mission variety, pacing, technical performance, or overall value beyond the published features and launch pricing.
