Yes, if you want to play the current deckbuilding game and can live with an unfinished, changing experience. Wait if you want the planned true ending, more modes, steadier balance, or a console or mobile version. Slay the Spire 2 launched in Steam Early Access on March 5, 2026. Mega Crit says it will keep adding and balancing content, and that its eventual full release will cost more than the Early Access version.
What you get if you buy now
Slay the Spire 2 is a roguelike deckbuilder that can be played solo or with up to four players in online co-op. It brings new and returning characters alongside additional cards, relics, potions, enemies, events, environments, and mechanics. Mega Crit describes the current game as already containing more content than the first Slay the Spire had; that is the developer’s comparison, not a claim that the sequel is finished or equivalent to the completed original. Mega Crit’s launch announcement describes the game and its co-op mode.

Online co-op is for Steam friends, with no matchmaking, according to Mega Crit’s FAQ. If you want to join random players through a public matchmaking queue, this version does not offer that.
What Early Access still leaves open
Mega Crit lists more gameplay content, a true ending, additional modes, balance work, bug fixes, broader hardware compatibility, visual effects, and languages among its plans for the full version. The studio says Early Access lets it gather feedback, test experimental features and designs, find niche problems, and improve stability and quality of life. These are stated development plans, not a guarantee that every planned change will arrive on a particular date. See the Steam store page for the developer’s Early Access statement.

There is no fixed 1.0 release date. Mega Crit estimates roughly one to two years in Early Access, based partly on its experience with the first game; the studio says it will leave Early Access when the game feels great. Treat that as an estimate rather than a schedule. Steam also cautions that Early Access games are incomplete and may or may not change further.
A May 2026 developer newsletter said beta patches had moved from weekly to bi-weekly, with main-branch changes becoming less frequent as well, so players could absorb changes and provide feedback. That is a dated update, not a reliable promise about the patch cadence in October 2026. Mega Crit’s Steam announcements are the source for that update.
