If you want a social record of the games you play, Prysm is a current iPhone and Android app that combines a game library, backlog tracker, reviews and a friend feed. It fits much of what people mean by “Letterboxd for video games,” though that phrase describes a type of service, not one official category—and the original headline does not identify Prysm by name, so it is best treated as a strong current match rather than a confirmed reference.
What people mean by “Letterboxd for video games”
The comparison usually means more than a list of games. Players want to mark what they have finished, what they are playing, and what they hope to try; record playthroughs or opinions; and see what friends are playing or recommending. Backloggd has often filled that role as a web-first service. A January 2024 Lifehacker roundup called it the closest thing its author had found to a “Letterboxd for video games,” describing game lists, playthrough logs, reviews and following other users. That is useful historical context, not a current hands-on comparison. Lifehacker’s 2024 roundup

Track your library and backlog
You can save games in statuses including backlog, playing, completed and paused. The library gives you a place to keep track of what you have played and what is still waiting, rather than relying on a separate spreadsheet or scattered notes. Prysm also offers library imports, discussed below. Prysm

Post reviews and follow friends
Prysm’s feed includes posts categorized as trophies, questions, memes and reviews. Users can follow friends and interact through likes, comments, reposts and polls. The company says these social features are not paywalled: its product page states, “Friends, posts, polls and the feed are never behind the paywall.” Prysm
Save games discovered in videos
If you spot a game in a TikTok or YouTube video, Prysm lets you share the link to the app. It says it reads the title and caption and may inspect the video, then asks you to confirm the game match; the source video is kept with the game page. A Chrome extension also adds a “Save to Prysm” control on YouTube, TikTok and Instagram pages. Prysm

Prysm reports that, in its own September 2026 test, 19 of 21 real gaming TikTok links returned a confident match. That is a small, company-reported test—not an independent benchmark or proof of general accuracy. Treat the suggested match as something to check, not a guarantee. Prysm

Imports, platforms and privacy considerations
Prysm lists Steam, PlayStation, Xbox and Android as import sources. Import behavior differs by platform, so connecting an account or device may require sharing account information or making data accessible under that platform’s settings.
| Source | What Prysm says it imports or supports | What to know |
|---|---|---|
| Steam | Owned games and play hours; session detection; self-set play-limit warnings; achievement pass-through | Requires connecting Steam. Review the permissions and account connection details before linking. |
| PlayStation | Game and trophy imports | Imports rely on a public PSN trophy list. |
| Xbox | Game imports | Uses Microsoft sign-in. |
| Android | Installed games | Finds games installed on the device. |
| Nintendo | Not supported | Prysm says Nintendo imports are unavailable. |
These are claims on Prysm’s official product page, and features or connection requirements can change. Check the app’s current explanations before granting access. Prysm

What is free, and what does Pro cost?
Prysm’s official page describes a free tier with a limit of 50 games, ads, five video-link shares per day and one backlog roulette roll per day. Friends, challenges and the social feed are included. Optional Pro removes the limits and ads, including the roulette cap. Prysm
The product page directs users to the App Store or Google Play for current Pro pricing. Because store prices can differ by country and change over time, check the listing for your region rather than relying on an old quoted price.

Prysm or Backloggd: which fits your routine?
Neither service is automatically the better choice for everyone. The practical distinction in the available information is access style: Prysm says it has iPhone and Android apps, while Prysm’s own site describes Backloggd as a website and says native iOS and Android apps remain on its public roadmap as of September 2026. That availability statement comes from Prysm, not Backloggd, so check Backloggd’s own current site before deciding. Prysm
Backloggd is a relevant web-first option if you prefer organizing and discussing games in a browser; the Lifehacker description of its logs, lists, reviews and social following is from January 2024 and should not be read as a current feature audit. Lifehacker’s 2024 roundup
- Choose by where you want to maintain your library: a dedicated mobile app, a website, or both.
- Check whether the statuses, reviews and play-session records you personally use are supported.
- Consider whether your friends are already active there; a social feed is more useful when people you know participate.
- Before importing, check platform coverage and the access or visibility settings each connection requires.
- If you keep a large backlog, compare the free-tier cap and paid plan terms with your library size and habits.
Is it worth trying?
If you want one place to maintain a backlog, log completed games and share opinions with friends, Prysm matches much of the “Letterboxd for games” idea. Its video-link capture and discovery tools give it additional ways to move a game from something you saw or remembered into your library. Before committing, check whether its import coverage suits your platforms, whether its current free limits are enough, and whether your friends use it.
