What Nintendo has confirmed about Ocarina of Time
Nintendo first announced that its 1998 adventure The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is returning on Nintendo Switch 2 in 2026. In a September 2026 Zelda anniversary announcement, series producer Eiji Aonuma showed the first gameplay and set the release date: November 5, 2026. Nintendo’s announcement describes overhauled visuals, fully voiced cutscenes, expanded character dialogue, symphonic orchestral music, and reworked camera and movement controls.

Physical edition packaging
Nintendo says the first physical print run will have special textured-foil packaging, available while supplies last. Availability and stock can differ by region, so check the local listing before buying.
Why the “next remake” claim is not confirmed
The comments sometimes presented as a tease do not name another Zelda game. GamesRadar reports that Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa said Nintendo had prepared “new titles beyond those already announced” for the second half of its fiscal year and would share details at the appropriate time. The report does not connect those unnamed titles to Zelda. GamesRadar’s report supports the narrower point that Nintendo had additional games planned, not that a Zelda remake was among them.

TechRadar reports that Shigeru Miyamoto discussed why remakes can matter: they can give younger players access to older games and help people discover original titles. He said, “Letting people know the original games also leads to future developments, so we’ve been actively pursuing that recently.” That is a broad explanation of Nintendo’s interest in remakes, not an announcement of a particular follow-up to Ocarina of Time. TechRadar’s account also quotes Miyamoto saying that remakes can make older games more playable for people who did not experience them when first released.
Other Zelda anniversary announcements
Nintendo’s September 2026 anniversary announcement also included several items beyond the game: a LEGO Link & Epona model and a Hasbro electronic Master Sword, both planned for spring 2027, plus playable and electric ocarinas expected later in 2026. Those announcements broaden the anniversary celebration, but they do not identify another remake.
