Is Iron Gate Making an Open-World Co-Op Space Sim? What We Know

The alleged Iron Gate space sim is unverified. Reports about Begraved describe a separate co-op side project, not a space game.

No reliable evidence in the available sources confirms that Iron Gate, the studio behind Valheim, is making an open-world co-op space sim. A separate game, Begraved, may be behind the confusion: reports describe it as an independent side project by some Iron Gate developers, and as a co-op dungeon crawler or horror game—not a space sim.

Is Iron Gate making an open-world co-op space sim?

The claim is unverified. Iron Gate’s official site identifies the studio and its association with Valheim, but does not announce or substantiate a new space-sim game: Iron Gate. The available sources also contain no attributable developer statement confirming the alleged project. Until the studio or a named developer makes a direct announcement, the headline should not be treated as confirmed news.

What is Begraved, and why is it relevant?

PC Gamer reports that three Iron Gate developers, including creative director Robin Eyre, worked on Begraved outside their studio work. The report describes it as a co-op dungeon crawler developed independently under Grip Jaw: PC Gamer’s report on Begraved.

A community post by people identifying themselves as Iron Gate employees describes Begraved as a co-op horror game and a side project: the community post. Neither account identifies it as a space sim. The available descriptions also do not establish that Iron Gate owns, publishes, or has officially announced the project.

What to look for in a real announcement

A first-party studio announcement or an attributable statement from a developer would establish whether the space-sim claim is real. It should also clarify who is developing and publishing the game, its co-op structure and world design, supported platforms, and release status. None of those details is confirmed for the alleged space sim by the sources cited here.
