Html2Pdf.app may be worth it for a small website if you need automated PDF generation, have a backend that can make authenticated requests, and your file sizes, monthly demand, and concurrency fit its limits. It is a hosted HTML-to-PDF API with a WordPress plugin—not just a manual converter. Its vendor-published capabilities and prices make it possible to estimate fit, but they do not establish rendering quality, uptime, or support performance for your site.
What Html2Pdf.app does
Html2Pdf.app accepts either a publicly reachable URL or raw HTML through an authenticated API request and returns a generated PDF. It also supports asynchronous work through a callback URL. The vendor says conversions run in headless Chromium, but the output can depend on CSS media mode, available fonts and other resources, and when JavaScript finishes loading. That makes it a candidate for workflows such as generating invoices, reports, or downloadable pages from a website’s backend. It is less suitable as a direct browser-side integration: the API key should stay on a backend, server-side script, or trusted job, not in browser JavaScript, public repositories, or client-side templates.

The vendor’s pricing page lists the following monthly plans. One credit represents each 5 MB chunk of generated PDF output, so a request does not necessarily consume exactly one credit. Check current terms before buying; the amounts below are the published monthly prices, and the available evidence does not establish yearly pricing. An independent pricing page checked the vendor’s prices on September 29, 2026, but is a price cross-check rather than a hands-on review.

Estimate cost using the output size of the PDFs your site actually generates, not just the number of requests. If jobs arrive in bursts, compare peak simultaneous work with the plan’s parallel-conversion limit.
When it is a reasonable fit
- Your website already has a backend or trusted worker that can keep an API key private.
- You need repeatable, automated PDF generation from URLs or raw HTML, rather than only occasional manual conversion.
- Your typical output size, monthly PDF demand, and peak parallel jobs fit the current plan limits.
- You can test the service against representative pages before depending on it in production.
It may be a poor fit if the free tier’s 1 MB file cap or single parallel conversion is too restrictive, if output-size-based credits make your expected workload expensive, or if you need independently established reliability or support evidence before adopting a hosted dependency.
Test rendering before depending on it
The documented options include page orientation and paper formats, custom width and height, margins, filename, JavaScript wait time, print or screen media mode, scale, header and footer HTML, PDF passwords, and permissions. Having an option does not guarantee that a particular page will render as intended.

- Choose representative pages that use the real fonts, images, stylesheets, and JavaScript your site relies on.
- Generate samples in both print and screen media modes where the distinction matters, then inspect page breaks, margins, headers and footers, and the final PDF size.
- Repeat the test for pages whose content loads dynamically; tune the documented JavaScript wait setting and check whether the output consistently contains the expected content.
- Compare the observed PDF sizes with the plan’s credit rules, and check whether expected bursts exceed its parallel-conversion allowance.
- Only make the workflow production-critical after you have verified the output and failure handling for your own pages.
This is an evaluation procedure based on the rendering variables documented by the vendor, not a claim that the service has been independently tested here.
Request flow, errors, and data handling
The documented endpoint is https://api.html2pdf.app/v1/generate, using an X-API-Key header. A successful synchronous response contains PDF binary data. For asynchronous generation, the request uses a callback URL; the API returns an accepted response and delivers the result through that callback. Check the HTTP status before treating a response body as a PDF.
The documentation lists errors involving inaccessible source URLs or invalid parameters, missing or invalid credentials, account limits, and server errors. For a failed request, first inspect its status and response rather than saving the body as a PDF; then verify the URL is reachable by the service, the request options are valid, the key is correct, and the account has not reached a limit. For callbacks, also verify that your callback endpoint can receive the completion request.

Html2Pdf.app says PDFs are processed temporarily rather than permanently stored on its servers, and raw HTML or text is not stored in conversion logs; it says some request metadata and a supplied source URL may be retained. Treat these as vendor statements, not an independent security or compliance assessment. Review the current privacy policy and data-processing terms against your site’s obligations before sending sensitive material. The documentation describes the request and rendering behavior.
Alternatives and the evidence to compare
Before choosing any hosted converter, compare expected PDF volume and size, parallel job needs, rendering behavior on your own pages, API and callback workflow, key management, data retention terms, operational support evidence, and total cost at your actual usage.
