What changed from Grammarly Premium?
Grammarly generally calls its direct-web paid plan Grammarly Pro. Premium is still available through the Apple App Store and Google Play. Grammarly says it is gradually moving direct-web Premium subscribers to Pro without increasing their price. Because the name and available offers can depend on where you subscribe, check the plan shown in your account or at checkout.

Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minuteWhen is Pro worth paying for?
It may be worthwhile for recurring, specific needs
Consider Pro if you often need to rewrite complete sentences, adjust a draft’s tone, check for plagiarism or AI-generated text, or use AI prompts beyond the Free plan’s monthly allowance. The case for paying is strongest when these are regular parts of your work, rather than features you expect to use only once or twice.
#1 Best Overall
Free is a sensible choice when it already does the job
If basic correction and tone detection cover your usual writing, there is no need to pay just because Pro has more features. A longer feature list does not establish that a subscription will improve every writer’s work or justify its cost.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. How to decide using your own writing
- Start with your usual workload. If Free covers the corrections and tone feedback you need, continue using it.
- Identify a recurring gap. Pick a real task that Free does not address, such as revising whole sentences, changing tone, or needing more AI prompts.
- Compare the commitment with the price. For US buyers, annual billing at $12 per member per month works out to $144 per member for a year, while monthly billing is $30 per member per month. The annual amount is based on Grammarly’s listed annual-billing equivalent; regional prices and checkout terms may differ.
- Use a trial if one is offered. Try Pro on a real assignment or work week, then ask whether it caught or improved things that Free missed. This is a practical way to assess fit, not a guarantee of better results.
Grammarly’s claims that it is trusted by more than 40 million people and 50,000 organizations, along with testimonials on its plans page, are vendor-published statements. They do not establish the value or writing improvement an individual subscriber will get. The available information does not establish a universal return on investment for a personal subscription.
