Blair Witch is most likely to appeal if you want a story-led, first-person horror game built around exploring a disorienting forest rather than combat-heavy action. It follows a search for a missing boy, with a dog companion and investigation tools at the center of play. Whether it is right for you depends on that focus—and, on PC, whether your system meets the listed requirements.
What is Blair Witch about?
Released on August 30, 2019, Blair Witch is a single-player psychological horror game from Bloober Team. Ellis goes into the Black Hills Forest near Burkittsville, Maryland, to search for a missing boy. His dog, Bullet, accompanies him. The game tells a new story within the Blair Witch film mythos, set years after the original film. Steam’s game listing describes the forest as shifting and haunted, with events shaped in part by how the player responds to danger and treats Bullet.

A September 2019 Meristation review characterizes Ellis as a former police officer with a troubled past and the forest as changing and disorienting. That is the review’s interpretation of the story and setting, rather than a detail established in the official store description.
What do you do in the game?
Play takes place from a first-person perspective. The official description centers on investigating the disappearance, exploring the forest, and responding to supernatural threats. Ellis uses a camera, cell phone, and flashlight as he searches. Bullet is more than a visual companion: players can pet him, give him treats, or discipline him if he wanders, and Steam says how he is treated affects the story.

- From the creative minds behind the critically acclaimed layers of fear, experience first-hand the toll that fear can take on the mind in an original story, inspired by the cinematic lore of blair witch
- With just your Loyal Dog, bullet, by your side, navigate your way through a cursed forest that warps and distorted both time and space
- Stand against the horrors of the blair witch and the decaying sanity of a man burdened by his past
The available descriptions support calling Blair Witch exploration- and story-focused survival horror. They do not establish how much combat it contains or whether it fits a stricter definition of a “walking simulator.” If combat, puzzle depth, or pacing is a deciding factor, check gameplay footage or a review that evaluates those elements before buying.
Is Blair Witch worth playing?
It is a plausible fit for players drawn to atmospheric exploration, a supernatural setting, and a story that includes a responsive dog companion. It is a less obvious choice if you primarily want a combat-heavy action game. The descriptions alone cannot establish whether the game is frightening, well-paced, technically smooth, or mechanically deep; those judgments require a direct playthrough or an attributable review.

Can your PC run it?
Compare your processor, graphics card, and RAM with the minimum column first; compare them with the recommended column if you want to meet Steam’s higher listed target. A component below minimum means your PC does not meet the published minimum specification. The listing provides no benchmark results, so these figures cannot predict your exact performance.

Windows 7 has an important caveat
Although the game’s minimum operating-system field says Windows 7 64-bit, Steam’s listing notes that the Steam client supports Windows 10 and later as of January 1, 2024. The game’s stated minimum does not ensure that an older Windows installation can run the current Steam client needed to obtain or launch the Steam version.
Which edition includes the extras?
The official Blair Witch game page says the Deluxe Edition includes The Art of Blair Witch and the original soundtrack. The page does not establish current availability on every platform or whether the extras are physical or digital.
