Possibly, but a general Airtel 5G speed figure cannot tell you whether your connection will hold a 4K 60fps YouTube Live loop. YouTube recommends an encoder bitrate of 35 Mbps for AV1 or H.265, and 50 Mbps for H.264. A TRAI assessment reported an average Airtel 5G upload of 49.75 Mbps at sampled hotspots in Kottayam, Kerala—but that location-specific average does not establish sustained performance at your address. Test at the actual streaming location and monitor YouTube’s stream health before relying on the connection.
What upload speed does YouTube recommend for 4K 60fps?
The target depends on the codec selected in your encoder. YouTube’s live encoder guidance gives these recommended settings for 2160p60:

| Codec | Minimum bitrate | Recommended bitrate |
|---|---|---|
| AV1 or H.265 | 10 Mbps | 35 Mbps |
| H.264 | 14 Mbps | 50 Mbps |
These are encoder bitrate settings, not a claim that a connection delivering that speed in one test will reliably sustain a live stream. The minimum is not a prudent target for a stream expected to withstand changing mobile-network conditions. Identify your encoder’s codec, then compare the connection’s measured upload with the corresponding recommended figure—not with download speed. [YouTube live encoder settings]

What does the Airtel 5G evidence show?
A regulator-assessed example from Kottayam
A Press Information Bureau summary of a TRAI assessment, published 24 March 2026, reports an Airtel 5G average upload of 49.75 Mbps at assessed hotspots in Kottayam, Kerala. The detailed test dates stated in the release are 10–13 February 2026. That result is above YouTube’s 35 Mbps AV1/H.265 recommendation and close to its 50 Mbps H.264 recommendation, but it is an average from sampled hotspots—not a sustained-rate guarantee for a different location, device, or indoor setup. [Press Information Bureau: TRAI assessment summary]
The same assessment reports Airtel’s overall average upload at 25.56 Mbps in auto-selection mode (5G/4G/3G/2G). In that mode, poor Airtel data signal strength was observed on 17.63% of the tested Kottayam city route and 61.16% of the tested coastal route. These are findings from those particular routes and test conditions, not estimates for Airtel users across India. The release’s introductory paragraph refers to February 2025 routes, while its detailed account specifies tests on 10–13 February 2026; the figures above are presented with the detailed test dates, and that inconsistency limits certainty about the summary’s methodology. Why Airtel’s coverage and speed claims are not a stability guarantee
Airtel promotes 5G Plus with an “up to 30x” speed claim and advertises 4K video viewing. It also says existing Airtel SIMs are 5G-enabled and that a 5G smartphone is needed. Those operator statements do not specify sustained upload throughput for a 4K60 live stream. Watching 4K video and sending a live 4K60 stream are different tasks; the latter must sustain the encoder’s upload bitrate. [Airtel 5G Plus]
TRAI’s Ministry of Communications release says its coverage maps let users select 2G, 3G, 4G, or 5G, but cautions that actual experience can vary from mapped coverage, including indoors, because conditions are dynamic. Check the Airtel 5G layer for your area as a first step, not as proof that your room or streaming position can sustain the required upload. [Ministry of Communications: telecom coverage maps]

How to test your Airtel connection before looping
YouTube advises creators to test upload bitrate before streaming, use audio and movement similar to the real event, monitor stream health, and review messages during the event. Apply that advice to the actual place and setup you plan to use:
- Check coverage, then verify the live connection. Look at Airtel’s 5G coverage for your area, then confirm your phone or router is actually connected to Airtel 5G at the streaming location. A coverage map is only a preliminary check.
- Run repeated upload tests at that spot. Test at representative busy times as well as when the network seems quiet. Record upload results and note whether they vary; a single result is only a snapshot. Do not substitute the test’s download result for upload.
- Set the actual encoder format. Confirm whether your encoder uses AV1, H.265, or H.264 and set the matching YouTube-recommended bitrate: 35 Mbps for AV1/H.265 or 50 Mbps for H.264 at 2160p60. Use CBR, RTMPS, and a two-second keyframe interval (no more than four seconds). [YouTube live encoder settings]
- Test a representative stream. Use a private or unlisted test stream if appropriate, with the intended resolution, frame rate, audio, and movement. Leave it running for a period close to the planned loop rather than judging stability from a brief speed test.
- Watch YouTube’s stream health and messages. Check for warnings or interruptions throughout the test. YouTube recommends monitoring stream health before and during the event; a good initial reading does not prove the connection will remain stable for the full loop. [YouTube live encoder settings]
What can disrupt a 4K60 mobile live stream?
- Local signal changes: Mobile signal and performance can differ indoors, by position, and as conditions change. TRAI’s route findings illustrate that signal quality was not uniform even within one city assessment.
- Insufficient upload headroom: Results near the codec’s recommended bitrate leave little room for variation. An average or brief peak is not proof of continuous capacity.
- Network mode changes: A device using auto-selection may move between 5G and other network types; the Kottayam assessment’s auto-selection result is distinct from its 5G hotspot result.
- Different test and stream conditions: A speed test does not reproduce the encoder’s sustained bitrate, video movement, audio, or the duration of a loop. Test the real stream configuration.
Or let it run in the cloud
If the goal is an always-on YouTube loop, StreamNeo is an alternative to keeping a local encoder and connection running. Upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live; the cloud service loops the uploaded video. Nothing has to stay on at home, it supports any uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps at one price per slot, and it automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly pricing is $9.99 per month. StreamNeo is for uploaded videos and YouTube streams, not camera-based live broadcasts. Learn more at StreamNeo, or start your free first day.
