Yes. AION 2 is free to play, and you do not need to buy the game to start. Is AION 2 subscription based?

Is the Battle Pass required, and does it affect progression?
The Battle Pass is listed as a purchase category, not as a requirement to play. AION2 Hub’s report on NC’s business-model notice describes a free Standard Track and a paid Premium Track. That report says pass rewards can include more than appearance items, including upgrade materials and currency. The retrieved official FAQ does not specify the current reward list or whether those materials materially change progression, so it would be misleading to call the paid pass cosmetics-only or to make a stronger pay-to-win claim from these details alone.

Your minimum stated cost to start is $0 for the base game. Any additional amount depends on whether you choose membership, a paid pass, cosmetics, or an offer currently shown in your region. The official FAQ does not publish current prices for those options. AION2 Hub’s July 2026 reporting gives $15 per month for membership and historical Founder’s Pack prices, but those are secondary-reported figures, not prices confirmed on the current official checkout page.

NC’s global service covers North America, South America, Europe, and Japan, and is available through Steam and PURPLE. The FAQ says the platforms share servers and in-game content; exact local currency, tax, and availability can differ, so check the store you plan to use. The global FAQ is dated October 5, 2026.
