The Roomba Max 775 Combo Robot + AutoWash Dock is a robot vacuum-and-mop built for people who want the mopping step handled automatically, not just a damp pad dragged across the floor. On paper it is a well-equipped package: a spinning roller mop, LiDAR mapping, AI obstacle recognition, and a large dock that empties, washes, and dries the mop for you. Whether it is worth the money depends on three things that iRobot’s own materials cannot settle for you: the price you can actually pay on the day you buy, how your floors are split between hard surfaces and carpet, and how much dock upkeep you are willing to accept. Independent lab or long-term owner testing of this model was not found in publicly available sources at the time of writing, so the verdict below rests on the manufacturer’s specifications and claims, clearly labeled as such.
What the Max 775 is and what iRobot claims for it
The exact product is the Roomba Max 775 Combo Robot + AutoWash Dock, listed by iRobot as item X285020 on its US product page. iRobot describes it as a vacuum-and-mop robot with a PowerSpin roller mop, dual rubber brushes, ClearView Pro LiDAR mapping, and PrecisionVision AI obstacle recognition. Every feature described in this article is iRobot’s own description unless stated otherwise.

Mopping and carpets
The page advertises heated spot mopping and states that the roller mop cover lifts and shields the mop so carpets stay dry. That is a design claim. It describes what the mechanism is meant to do, not how well it protects carpet in a real home, and no independent measurement of carpet moisture is established for this model. If carpet is a large share of your floor area, treat that claim as the start of your evaluation rather than the end of it.

iRobot says the robot can store up to five maps, lets you name rooms in the app, and recognizes objects such as cords, shoes, and pet waste. These are advertised capabilities. They do not guarantee error-free obstacle avoidance, and the page makes no claim of perfect detection. Expect the usual robot-vacuum behavior in clutter-heavy rooms and plan to pick up loose cables and footwear before each run.

Specifications and placement
The robot and dock are large enough that placement should be planned before the box is opened. The figures below are manufacturer-published specifications for the US listing; confirm them for your regional SKU, since product pages can differ.
| Item | Robot | AutoWash dock |
|---|---|---|
| Dimensions (L × W × H) | 14.7 × 14.4 × 4.1 in | 17.7 × 16.7 × 17 in |
| Weight | 12.787 lb | 18.960 lb |
| Battery | 6000 mAh LFP | Not applicable |
iRobot’s setup advice is to place the dock on a hard-surface floor and leave enough open space for the robot to drive in and out. The dock is tall at 17 inches, so check that the spot is clear of low furniture overhangs, and keep it away from a wall or cabinet that would block the robot’s approach.

The AutoWash dock: what it does and what it does not
According to iRobot, the dock automatically empties debris into a bag, heat-washes and dries the roller mop, dispenses cleaning solution, and runs a self-cleaning cycle after roller washing. These are the main reasons to buy the Max 775 rather than a basic mop robot, because they remove the most tedious parts of mop care.
Crashes, No Sound, or Screen Glitches?

Repair common Windows errors and clear accumulated junk for a smoother, more stable PC - no reinstall needed.Free scan · no reinstallThe page advertises up to three months of hands-free operation. Treat that as iRobot’s estimate, not a guaranteed service interval. How often the bag, filter, and solution reservoir need attention depends on how much debris your home produces, how many runs you schedule, and whether pets shed heavily. A household with a dog in a carpeted home will reach the bag and filter limits sooner than the estimate implies.

Maintenance and supplies
The box includes one extra active-carbon AutoEmpty bag, one extra filter, two extra side brushes, and a 30 ml sample of StayClean. Those are the consumables you should expect to reorder. Before buying replacements from third parties, check that they list your exact model and SKU, because the source material confirms the categories but not fit for every replacement listing.
- Empty and replace the AutoEmpty bag when the dock signals it is full, and keep a spare on hand so the dock does not run out mid-week.
- Swap the filter on the schedule the app or dock indicates.
- Replace side brushes when they wear or tangle; the box includes two spares.
- Use StayClean concentrate only as iRobot specifies, and re-order from the same SKU family as your dock.
- Check the roller mop for wear and debris at regular intervals; the dock washes it, but it does not replace inspection.

Lineup and support
iRobot’s press-release listing includes an announcement for the Roomba Max 875 Combo dated September 2, 2026. That makes the 775 one of several current Max-series options rather than the company’s newest machine, but the sources available do not support a performance comparison between the two, so this review does not rank them.
Best Value
- CLEAN FLOORS EVERY DAY—WITHOUT THINKING ABOUT IT. The Roomba Plus 415X vacuums and mops in one run, stopping crumbs, dust, and spills before they turn into stuck‑on messes. With 20,000 Pa and DualClean mop pads, your floors stay visibly clean from morning and night.
- NO MORE SCRUBBING DRIED‑ON MESSES. SmartScrub applies extra pressure exactly where messes are stubborn—breaking down dried food, muddy paw prints, and kitchen splatter, so you never have to scrub by hand again.
- REACHES THE PLACES DIRT USUALLY HIDES. A 46% slimmer design* fits under more furniture, while extending brushes pull debris from edges and corners—so dust doesn’t collect where traditional robots miss. *Compared to Roomba 105
- GREAT FOR HOMES WITH PETS. Tangle‑free rubber brushes capture pet fur without clogging, eliminating constant stops to cut hair off the brush.
- EVERY CLEAN STARTS WITH A FRESH MOP—NOT YESTERDAY’S DIRT. The AutoWash Dock washes and heat‑dries mop pads at 113°F after every run, preventing odors and buildup so floors aren’t cleaned with yesterday’s dirt.
iRobot has also said in a company update that Roomba robots are still being built, sold, and supported through the app and dedicated support teams, and that it plans to continue customer service, software updates where applicable, and warranty coverage. That is a general company statement. It is not a warranty document, so check the warranty length and eligibility for your specific model and region before you buy.
Who should consider the Max 775
The Max 775 makes the most sense if you want the dock to handle emptying, washing, and drying of the mop, and you have mostly hard floors where a mop robot will do its best work. It is a harder case for a home that is mostly carpet, because the carpet-protection claim is unverified in independent sources, and for anyone who wants a smaller dock or minimal upkeep. If your budget is set at the lower of the two listed prices, you have a clear test to run: compare the total cost of the robot plus a year of bags, filters, brushes, and solution against the price of a simpler model.
The model is a respectable Roomba redux in the sense that iRobot has packaged a complete automated mopping system. Its real-world value will depend on the points above, and on whether independent testing eventually confirms the carpet and obstacle claims that the manufacturer makes.
