OBS is the more natural fit than IRL Pro for a prerecorded 24/7 YouTube stream because YouTube presents encoder software as a computer-based workflow, while IRL Pro is documented as an Android mobile broadcaster. That is a conclusion about documented roles—not a tested comparison of reliability or proof that IRL Pro cannot relay prerecorded media. If you want unattended playback without leaving a computer running, a cloud service such as StreamNeo is a more direct fit.
How IRL Pro and OBS differ for this job
| Option | Documented workflow | Fit for prerecorded 24/7 playback | What the documentation does not establish |
|---|---|---|---|
| IRL Pro | Enhanced IRL documents an Android app that broadcasts to a stream key over RTMP or SRT through a single connection; it does not bond multiple connections. Its guide describes a mobile live-broadcast workflow. | Less direct. The guide does not document IRL Pro as a looping playout system for prerecorded video. | It does not establish that prerecorded media cannot be relayed, nor does it provide an independently verified 24/7 reliability result. Enhanced IRL’s IRL Pro guide |
| OBS | YouTube describes encoder software as an app running on a computer, with setup through YouTube’s encoder workflow or by entering the stream URL and key. | More natural of these two for a local-computer encoder sending a prerecorded program to YouTube. | YouTube’s encoder guide does not verify specific OBS looping features or guarantee uninterrupted 24/7 operation. YouTube’s encoder setup guide |
This is a role-based recommendation from the vendors’ and YouTube’s documentation, not a hands-on test. Either approach still depends on the device, connection, configuration, and ongoing oversight used to keep the stream alive.

What to decide before choosing a workflow
- Where the stream runs: IRL Pro is documented as an Android broadcaster; OBS is a computer encoder. A computer-based method requires the computer and its internet connection to remain available while streaming.
- Whether you need looping: Confirm that your chosen setup can repeatedly play the prerecorded material in the way you intend. The cited IRL Pro guide does not describe looping playout, and the YouTube encoder page does not establish particular OBS looping controls.
- How much oversight you can provide: Documentation here does not establish comparative uptime or recovery performance. Plan to monitor a DIY stream and decide how you will respond if the encoder or connection stops.
- How you will handle archives: A continuous live output and a complete replay archive are separate concerns; YouTube warns that streams longer than 12 hours may not be captured at all.
- Whether you have rights and monetization-safe programming: You need rights for the streamed video and audio, and repetitive or mass-produced content can create monetization risk.
Set up the local-computer route with OBS
YouTube’s encoder workflow supports connecting an encoder to a YouTube stream using the service selection or the stream URL and key. Exact OBS menus can vary by version, so use the current OBS interface rather than assuming a specific label or location from YouTube’s general guide.
- Check YouTube live eligibility. Review YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility guidance for the current requirements on your channel before scheduling a long broadcast.
- Prepare the prerecorded program. Verify that the video and audio play correctly from beginning to end and that your intended playback workflow can repeat it. Keep a copy of the source media and decide what viewers should see or hear if playback ends or is interrupted.
- Create or schedule the YouTube live stream. In YouTube Studio, create the live stream and use the encoder connection details YouTube provides. Treat the stream key as a credential: do not publish it, and reset it if it is exposed.
- Connect OBS to YouTube. Follow YouTube’s encoder setup instructions: select YouTube as the encoder service if available, or enter the YouTube stream URL and stream key in the encoder’s streaming settings.
- Configure and verify the output. Match the encoder output to the source and the stream configuration you intend to use. Check the live preview and audio before making the stream public; the cited YouTube and Enhanced IRL pages do not supply a universal OBS bitrate, resolution, or keyframe setting for every source and connection.
- Start the broadcast and monitor it. Start streaming from the encoder, confirm that YouTube receives a healthy signal, then verify the public viewing page. For a DIY 24/7 stream, plan for the computer, power, internet connection, and encoder process to remain available and for someone to respond to interruptions.
IRL Pro’s published stream-key caps are plan-specific
Enhanced IRL publishes these maximum bitrate figures for its listed key plans. They are service recommendations and caps, not independent performance findings or general OBS settings.

These caps apply to Enhanced IRL’s documented plans; they should not be treated as recommended YouTube bitrates or as evidence that IRL Pro is designed for unattended prerecorded playout. See the current IRL Pro documentation for its setup and plan details.
Plan archives separately from the live broadcast
YouTube says streams shorter than 12 hours can be automatically archived, but a stream exceeding 12 hours may not be captured at all. A single 24/7 broadcast therefore should not be treated as a guaranteed complete YouTube replay. YouTube recommends keeping a local archive backup; for continuous programming, plan how to preserve source files or make separate recordings if a replay matters. See YouTube’s live-stream archive guidance.

Check rights and monetization risk before going live
Clear rights for video and audio
YouTube’s livestream terms require live content to comply with its Community Guidelines and require the creator to have the necessary worldwide rights to exploit the live content on Google services, including music licensing rights. Confirm rights for both picture and sound across the territories and uses relevant to your stream; permission to use a track in one context does not by itself establish that it is cleared for a continuous livestream. Read the YouTube livestream terms.

YouTube’s monetization policy clarification dated July 15, 2025 renamed “repetitious content” as “inauthentic content” to clarify that repetitive or mass-produced material is ineligible under the existing policy. The policy says “video” includes live streaming. This does not mean every prerecorded livestream is automatically demonetized; repetitive programming with little original value can create risk during channel-level monetization review. Review YouTube’s channel monetization policies.

Or let it run in the cloud
If your main requirement is unattended prerecorded playback, StreamNeo is a more direct alternative to a phone- or computer-based encoder: upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. It loops uploaded video from the cloud, so no computer or home connection has to stay on. Each slot streams uploads as made, up to 4K 60fps, at one flat price per slot; it can automatically recover if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly pricing is $9.99 per month. StreamNeo is for YouTube livestreaming, not camera broadcasting. Learn more at StreamNeo, or start the free first day.
Other cloud option to investigate
YouTube’s verified encoder directory lists Gyre as a cloud-based tool for 24/7 streaming of prerecorded YouTube videos. The listing establishes that it is relevant to this use case, but does not establish its current commercial terms or endorse it. Check its current offering independently before choosing it. The directory is on YouTube’s encoder page.
