Open the YouTube app and check Profile picture > Settings > Uploads. If your version includes Upload quality, select Full Quality. The option is not documented in YouTube’s current iPhone upload instructions, so it may be absent or named differently in your app. The documented Upload over Wi-Fi only setting controls the connection used for uploads; it does not increase a video’s resolution.
Check for the Full Quality option

Tap Settings, then open Uploads.

If you see Upload quality, tap it and choose Full Quality. Then upload the original video file or your highest-quality export.

YouTube’s current iPhone upload instructions describe uploading in the YouTube app or YouTube Studio app, with the main app flow starting at Create > Video. They document an upload connection preference, but do not list a separate Full Quality control. A 2020 Apple Support Communities user report describes the Full Quality menu path above; that historical report does not confirm that the setting remains available in current app releases.

What Upload over Wi-Fi only changes
In Profile picture > Settings > Uploads, YouTube documents an Upload over Wi-Fi only preference. Turn it on if you want uploads to use Wi-Fi rather than a mobile connection; the precise choice may depend on the options shown in your app. It affects when or how the app can upload, not the resolution or detail in the video file. See YouTube’s upload instructions for the documented setting.
If Full Quality is missing
Check the installed app’s Settings > Uploads screen for the options it currently offers. If there is no Upload quality or Full Quality choice, you may not be able to enable that specific control in your version. You can still upload through YouTube’s documented Create > Video flow, choosing the video file you intend to publish.

If the uploaded video looks blurry or lacks 1080p or 4K
Give YouTube time to process higher resolutions
YouTube makes a lower-quality version available first and processes higher resolutions in the background. After uploading, open the video’s watch page, tap Settings > Quality, and check again later to see whether higher-resolution options have appeared. YouTube notes that a 60-minute 4K, 30-fps video can take up to four hours to finish high-resolution processing; this is an example, not a guaranteed processing time for every video. Its guidance also says 4K videos are four times larger than 1080p videos. See YouTube’s processing guidance.

Check the video you actually uploaded
Confirm that the original recording or exported file has the resolution you expect. YouTube converts uploaded videos for playback, and the resolutions available depend partly on the quality of the original upload. A setting cannot restore 1080p or 4K detail that was not present in the source file. See YouTube’s explanation of video quality and processing.

Use appropriate export settings
If you export or edit the video before uploading, YouTube’s encoding recommendations advise keeping the same frame rate as the recording. They also specify supported formats and recommended bitrates by resolution and frame-rate category. These are encoding recommendations, not extra controls in the iPhone YouTube app.
