One free scan finds every outdated or missing driver and matches the right update for your exact hardware.Free scan · exact hardware matchFor the current US listings compared here, neither phone is a meaningful storage-value bargain over the other: the iPhone 17 and Samsung Galaxy S26 are each listed at about $900 for 256GB and about $1,100 for 512GB. Apple’s matched-capacity prices are one dollar lower, a negligible difference. Your better choice depends more on how much space you need on the phone, whether cloud photo storage suits you, and the price you can actually get after eligible offers.
How the listed prices compare
These are manufacturer-listed US prices observed on October 4, 2026—not guaranteed checkout prices. Taxes, trade-ins, carrier promotions, other offers, availability, and later price changes can affect what you pay. The comparison is limited to these models and listings; it does not establish which brand is cheaper overall.

Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Is 256GB enough?
It depends on what is filling your phone. If you mainly keep apps, games, documents, and a manageable amount of downloaded media locally, 256GB may be sufficient. If you routinely save large video libraries or games for offline use, or want to keep more files on the device without managing space, 512GB offers more room. The listings establish the capacity options and price steps, but they do not establish how much storage either phone has available after its operating system and preinstalled content.

- Please note, this device does not support E-SIM; This 4G model is compatible with all GSM networks worldwide outside of the U.S. In the US, ONLY compatible with T-Mobile and their MVNO's (Metro and Standup). It will NOT work with other CDMA carriers, and it is also not compatible with their MVNO (Visible, Xfinity Mobile, US Mobile, Cricket Wireless, etc).
- Compatibility with certain third-party devices and accessibility accessories, including some hearing aids, may vary depending on manufacturer support, Bluetooth protocols, software compatibility, and regional firmware limitations. For additional hearing aid compatibility information, please refer to Samsung’s official support documentation.

Before choosing, look at your current phone’s storage breakdown and identify the largest categories. A photo library that is already backed up presents a different problem from games or videos that must remain available offline.
Can cloud photo storage free up phone space?
It can reduce the space occupied by photos on the phone, but cloud capacity is separate from built-in capacity. Apple’s photo and video storage guidance explains that with Optimize Storage enabled, full-resolution photos and videos are kept in iCloud while space-saving copies are stored on the device as needed. That approach depends on having enough cloud storage and internet access when you need originals; it does not add room for apps, games, or offline videos.

Apple says a new iCloud account includes 5GB and that users can upgrade with iCloud+. If you need a paid plan, include its ongoing cost in your comparison rather than treating cloud storage as free extra phone capacity.

For Google services, Google Photos Help says Google Account storage is shared across services such as Photos, Drive, and Gmail, and can be managed or increased. A Galaxy buyer already relying on Google services should consider the account’s existing usage and available quota. As with iCloud, Google Account storage is not built-in phone storage.

Which one is better value for your situation?
- Choose 256GB if your usual files fit comfortably on your phone and you are content to manage downloads or rely on cloud access for backed-up photos.
- Consider 512GB if you keep substantial games, video, or other large files locally, especially when you need them offline.
- For a photo-heavy library, check your existing cloud quota, backup setup, connectivity needs, and any subscription cost before paying more for device storage.
- For the actual purchase decision, compare the same capacity and the current unlocked out-of-pocket price after offers you qualify for. Then weigh your existing Apple or Google ecosystem and any cloud subscription you would need.
The one-dollar difference in the listed prices is too small to decide between these phones on value alone. The evidence here does not establish a universal storage-limited winner across iPhone and Galaxy models, sellers, regions, or promotions.
