The OnePlus 15R is the larger-screen option, with a higher listed maximum refresh rate and a manufacturer-stated 7,400mAh typical battery capacity. The iPhone 17 has a smaller display and a different camera and software setup. Neither is a clear overall winner from specifications alone, and there is no reliable price gap without choosing a country, storage tier and current seller offer.

Which screen suits you better?
The 15R’s 6.83-inch display is substantially larger on paper than the iPhone 17’s 6.3-inch screen. That makes the OnePlus the more natural fit if you prioritize a broad viewing area for video, reading or games; the iPhone’s smaller display may be preferable if you want a more compact phone. Screen size alone does not establish which device is easier to handle, since overall dimensions and weight also matter.

The listed maximum refresh rates are up to 165Hz for the 15R and up to 120Hz for the iPhone 17. These are manufacturer specifications, not a promise that every app or activity will run at the maximum rate. A higher ceiling can matter for compatible content, but it does not by itself prove a better everyday experience.
Battery capacity is not a battery-life comparison
OnePlus lists a 7,400mAh typical-capacity battery and 55W SUPERVOOC charging for its US 15R variant. Apple’s cited iPhone 17 specification page does not state a directly comparable mAh figure. Battery capacity alone cannot tell you which phone lasts longer: real runtime depends on the device, workload, settings and testing conditions. No matched independent endurance test is established here, so a battery-life winner cannot be named from these figures.
#1 Best Overall
- This phone is unlocked and compatible with any carrier of choice on GSM and CDMA networks (e.g. AT&T, T-Mobile, Sprint, Verizon, US Cellular, Cricket, Metro, Tracfone, Mint Mobile, etc.).
- Please check with your carrier to verify compatibility.
- When you receive the phone, insert a SIM card from a compatible carrier. Then, turn it on, connect to Wi-Fi, and follow the on screen prompts to activate service.
- The device does not come with headphones or a SIM card. It does include a generic (Mfi certified) charger and charging cable.
- Tested for battery health and guaranteed to have a minimum battery capacity of 80%.
Check the specification page for your country before relying on charging claims. OnePlus’s regional pages can differ, including in the charger information, and the US specification should not be assumed to describe every regional model.
Camera specifications do not settle photo quality
The iPhone 17 pairs a 48MP main camera with a 48MP ultrawide. The 15R’s listed rear setup is a 50MP Sony IMX906 main camera with optical image stabilization (OIS), plus an 8MP ultrawide. These numbers describe hardware, not the quality of the resulting photos or video. Megapixel counts do not establish which phone handles low light, motion, color or video better.

If camera performance is central to your choice, look for matched samples taken in the same conditions, particularly for the main and ultrawide cameras, low-light scenes and video. The listed specifications alone do not support an image-quality ranking.
Storage, software and ecosystem
Both phones have listed 256GB and 512GB storage options, so those are the sensible tiers to match when comparing offers. OnePlus lists 12GB of RAM for its US 15R variant; the cited Apple specification page does not state iPhone 17 RAM, so a direct RAM comparison is not available from these sources.

The 15R runs OxygenOS 16 based on Android 16, while Apple identifies the iPhone 17 as an iOS device. This is a choice about app and device compatibility, habits and ecosystem preference rather than an objective specification winner. Before switching, consider the devices and services you already use and how you will transfer your data.

A dependable price gap cannot be stated without a defined market and live offers. Prices vary by country, storage configuration, retailer, tax, promotions and availability. A OnePlus 15R launch-price mention is not a current matched comparison against the iPhone 17, so it should not be treated as today’s price difference.

- Tested for battery health and guaranteed to have a minimum battery capacity of 80%.
- Choose your country and currency. Compare phones sold for the same market rather than combining prices from different countries.
- Match storage. Compare 256GB with 256GB or 512GB with 512GB, not different capacities.
- Use current offers from sellers you can actually buy from. Check whether tax, trade-in credit, carrier terms or a temporary promotion affects the displayed amount.
- Confirm regional model details. Verify network-band compatibility, warranty terms, stock and included charging accessories for the exact listing. The OnePlus US specifications page may not match another region.
- Calculate the difference consistently. Subtract the lower current price from the higher one only after matching market, storage and offer conditions; record the seller and date because prices can change.
Which one should you choose?
- Choose the OnePlus 15R if you prefer the larger listed display, want the higher stated maximum refresh rate, or value its manufacturer-listed battery capacity and charging specification. Confirm the regional variant and seek independent runtime evidence if battery life is decisive.
- Choose the iPhone 17 if you prefer its smaller display, want iOS, or the Apple ecosystem better fits your existing devices and services. The specifications here do not establish a camera or battery-life victory.
- Decide on price only after checking same-country, same-storage offers from current sellers. Without those conditions, a numerical price difference would be misleading.
