The Galaxy S26 Plus is the larger-screen option, while the iPhone 17 Pro is smaller. Samsung publishes detailed specifications for its phone, but the available information does not establish a reliable current price gap between the two: Samsung’s US price evidence conflicts, and a same-market iPhone checkout price is not verified. Choose first by size and iOS-versus-Android preference; compare current prices only at the same storage capacity and in the same market.
At a glance: the meaningful differences
| What matters | Galaxy S26 Plus | iPhone 17 Pro |
|---|---|---|
| Screen and handling | Samsung lists a 6.7-inch display and a 190g handset. It is the larger-screen choice. | Tom’s Guide describes it as smaller than the S26 Plus; an exact display size and weight are not established by the sources available here. |
| Operating system | Android with Samsung’s One UI. | iOS. |
| Rear camera hardware | Samsung lists 50MP wide, 12MP ultrawide and 10MP telephoto cameras, including 3× optical zoom. | A complete authoritative camera specification is not established by the sources available here. |
| Processor | Samsung Ireland identifies Exynos 2600; Tom’s Guide reports that the phone uses Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy or Exynos 2600 depending on market. | A directly comparable processor specification is not established here. |
| Price comparison | US price reports conflict; the figures and their dates are detailed below. | No current same-market checkout price was verified for this comparison. |
The practical choice is not settled by a spec-sheet winner. Decide whether you want the bigger screen or smaller phone, and whether you prefer Android/One UI or iOS. Camera megapixels, battery capacity and launch prices do not by themselves establish which phone is better for you.

Size and display: choose viewing area or a smaller phone
Samsung’s Ireland specifications list the Galaxy S26 Plus with a 6.7-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display, 3120 × 1440 resolution and a refresh rate of up to 120Hz. The phone measures 158.4 × 75.8 × 7.3mm and weighs 190g. Tom’s Guide characterizes the iPhone 17 Pro as smaller, but the sources available for this comparison do not establish its exact display dimensions or weight.

If you spend more time reading, watching video or using a larger viewing area, the S26 Plus is the clearer fit from the available facts. If a smaller handset is a priority, the iPhone 17 Pro is the directional choice, though check Apple’s current regional specifications for exact measurements before buying.

- Please check with your carrier to verify compatibility.
- When you receive the phone, insert a SIM card from a compatible carrier. Then, turn it on, connect to Wi-Fi, and follow the on screen prompts to activate service.
- The device does not come with headphones or a SIM card. It does include a generic (Mfi certified) charger and charging cable.
- Tested for battery health and guaranteed to have a minimum battery capacity of 80%.
Camera systems: compare the lenses and your priorities, not megapixels alone
Samsung lists three rear cameras on the S26 Plus: a 50MP wide camera at f/1.8, a 12MP ultrawide at f/2.2 and a 10MP telephoto at f/2.4. Samsung specifies 3× optical zoom and up to 30× digital zoom. The figures describe camera hardware and zoom claims; they are not a controlled image-quality comparison.
No direct, controlled test of the iPhone 17 Pro against the Galaxy S26 Plus is established here, and a complete authoritative iPhone camera specification is not available in the cited material. Tom’s Guide’s hands-on S26 Plus coverage includes comparisons with the iPhone 17 Pro Max, not the iPhone 17 Pro. Do not treat those results as a head-to-head verdict for these exact models. For a camera decision, consider whether you most value wide, ultrawide or telephoto framing, then consult current sample images or a direct comparison of these two phones.
Battery, charging and durability
Samsung gives the S26 Plus a 4900mAh typical battery capacity and claims up to 31 hours of video playback. That playback figure is a manufacturer claim, not an independent, like-for-like test against the iPhone 17 Pro; it cannot establish which phone lasts longer in everyday use.

Samsung says the S26 Plus can charge to up to 69% in around 30 minutes. Its retrieved US purchase listing says a charger is not included, so factor in a compatible charger if you do not already have one. The listing does not establish charger compatibility or wattage for a particular accessory.
Samsung lists IP68 water and dust resistance, an Armor Aluminum frame, and Gorilla Glass Victus 2 on the front and back. These are Samsung’s stated specifications, not a comparison of durability against the iPhone.
Processor and storage depend on the market
Samsung Ireland identifies the Exynos 2600 in its S26 Plus specifications. Tom’s Guide reports that the phone is sold with Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy or Exynos 2600 depending on market. Check the exact regional model before using a processor comparison to predict performance; the retrieved Samsung US listing does not identify its chipset.

Samsung Ireland lists 256GB and 512GB storage versions, each with 12GB memory. The available source material does not establish a complete, authoritative iPhone 17 Pro storage comparison. For a fair purchase comparison, match the storage tier rather than comparing a base model with a higher-capacity version.

A definitive current price gap cannot be calculated from the available price evidence. Samsung’s retrieved US listing showed the unlocked 256GB S26 Plus at $1,099.99 and the 512GB model at $1,299.99. Tom’s Guide reported on October 1, 2026 that the US starting price had risen to $1,199 for 256GB and $1,399 for 512GB. The listing and report therefore disagree, and neither establishes a current iPhone 17 Pro checkout price for a matched comparison.
Tom’s Guide also reported historical US launch pricing of $1,099 for the S26 Plus 256GB model, alongside launch prices of £1,099 in the UK and AU$1,849 in Australia. Those are historical launch figures, not current offers; currencies and markets should not be mixed. A Brazil-market comparison from Oficina da Net likewise should not be treated as a US-dollar price comparison.

Before deciding which costs less, compare the same storage capacity in the same country on the same date. Check the seller’s checkout total, promotions, taxes, carrier requirements and whether the quoted price is for an unlocked phone. Do not infer the iPhone-versus-Samsung difference from the conflicting Samsung figures alone.
Which phone should you choose?
Choose the Galaxy S26 Plus if
- You want the larger 6.7-inch display and are comfortable with a 190g handset.
- You prefer Android and Samsung’s One UI.
- The listed 50MP wide, 12MP ultrawide and 10MP telephoto setup, including 3× optical zoom, matches the kinds of framing you want.
- You can confirm the chipset variant, local price and storage configuration for your market before buying.
Consider the iPhone 17 Pro if
- You prefer a smaller phone to the Galaxy S26 Plus.
- You prefer iOS.
- You are willing to check Apple’s regional specifications and a current local price, since a full spec-for-spec and price comparison is not established here.
Neither choice is a universal camera, battery or value winner on the evidence available. The strongest supported distinction is size; operating-system preference is the other major personal choice.
