The iPhone Air instead prioritizes a thinner body, a slightly larger display and a higher-resolution Center Stage front camera. A current price gap cannot be established from Apple’s published comparison page: the Air’s documented $999 price was its U.S. launch price for 256GB in September 2025, not a current street-price quote.

Which phone has the better camera setup?
The iPhone 16 Pro has the more versatile rear-camera hardware on paper: its listed system includes main, ultra-wide and telephoto cameras. That gives it dedicated camera options for wide scenes and zoomed-in framing. Apple lists the Air with one 48MP Fusion main-camera system and describes optical-quality 2x framing; the cited specifications do not establish a separate ultra-wide or telephoto camera on Air.

The Air’s defining physical specification is its 5.6mm thickness and grade 5 titanium frame. Apple also lists a titanium frame for the 16 Pro, but the cited comparison information does not establish its thickness. Choose the Air if a very thin design and larger stated screen are priorities; the published specifications do not establish an overall comfort or durability winner.
What do USB speeds and eSIM mean in practice?
Large wired transfers
Apple rates the iPhone 16 Pro’s USB 3 support at up to 10Gb/s; the comparison page lists USB 2 for the Air. This distinction matters most if you regularly move large video files over a cable. The stated maximum is a specification, not a guarantee of the speed a particular computer, cable, file or workflow will achieve.
Rank #2
- Titanium frame combines strength and lightness, giving the iPhone 16 Pro a premium feel while reducing weight for prolonged daily use. The polished edges and textured back enhance grip and handling, making it easier to use during long calls, gaming sessions, or when capturing photos and videos on the move.
Carrier and travel compatibility
The Air is eSIM-only, so confirm that your carrier supports eSIM activation for the specific model and that your intended travel arrangements work with eSIM. The reviewed 16 Pro technical page does not establish every regional SIM configuration, so check the exact regional model rather than assuming all versions share the same setup.

Apple announced a U.S. starting price of $999 for the iPhone Air with 256GB on September 9, 2025, and announced 512GB and 1TB options as well. That figure is a historical launch price, not proof of the Air’s current retail price. Apple’s comparison page has dynamic price fields and directs buyers to authorized resellers for the 16 Pro, so the cited sources do not establish a current like-for-like price difference.

To calculate a meaningful gap, compare live listings for the same storage capacity and condition, and keep seller type and promotions consistent. A new Air launch price should not be compared as though it were equivalent to a used or refurbished 16 Pro listing. Prices and availability can vary by country, seller and date.
