Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →If a site says “Your IP address has been banned,” it may be blocking the public network address you are connecting from—not necessarily your account. But a vague “access denied” or HTTP 403 message alone does not prove an IP ban. Check the exact wording and code, compare how the problem behaves across devices and networks, then contact the party that controls the restriction.
What an IP ban means—and how it differs from an account restriction
An IP address identifies a connection to a service. A website operator, sometimes using a security provider, can deny requests based on an IP address, an autonomous system number (ASN, which groups network addresses), or a country or region. An account restriction instead applies to an identity or sign-in, and an organization policy may limit which accounts or services a work or school user can access.

| What the message or behavior suggests | Likely scope | Who can investigate or change it |
|---|---|---|
| Cloudflare error 1006, 1007, 1008, or 1106 | The visitor IP has been denied, according to Cloudflare’s error descriptions. | The website owner controls the site’s security settings; ask them to investigate. Cloudflare says its support team cannot override a customer’s settings. Cloudflare error 1006 guidance |
| Cloudflare error 1009 | Access is denied based on the visitor’s country or region. | Contact the website owner and ask about the geographic restriction. Cloudflare error 1009 guidance |
| Account locked or unable to verify a sign-in | The restriction may follow the account, a sign-in attempt, or a new device or location—not just the network. | Use the service’s official account recovery or verification process. Microsoft account unlock guidance; Google Drive sign-in guidance |
| “Your network administrator has blocked access” or a tenant-restrictions notice | A work or school organization policy may be limiting sign-in. | Contact the organization’s administrator. Microsoft tenant restrictions |
| “Unusual traffic” warning, CAPTCHA, or generic 403 | The cause is not established by the wording alone; it may involve shared-network activity or a temporary connection problem. | Follow the service’s guidance and use the checks below before concluding an IP was banned. Google unusual-traffic guidance; Netflix connection troubleshooting |

How to narrow down whether it is the account, device, or network
These checks help identify what the problem follows; they cannot reveal a service’s internal enforcement decision with certainty.
#1 Best Overall
- DUAL-BAND WIFI 6 ROUTER: Wi-Fi 6(802.11ax) technology achieves faster speeds, greater capacity and reduced network congestion compared to the previous gen. All WiFi routers require a separate modem. Dual-Band WiFi routers do not support the 6 GHz band.
- AX1800: Enjoy smoother and more stable streaming, gaming, downloading with 1.8 Gbps total bandwidth (up to 1200 Mbps on 5 GHz and up to 574 Mbps on 2.4 GHz). Performance varies by conditions, distance to devices, and obstacles such as walls.
- CONNECT MORE DEVICES: Wi-Fi 6 technology communicates more data to more devices simultaneously using revolutionary OFDMA technology
- EXTENSIVE COVERAGE: Achieve the strong, reliable WiFi coverage with Archer AX1800 as it focuses signal strength to your devices far away using Beamforming technology, 4 high-gain antennas and an advanced front-end module (FEM) chipset
- OUR CYBERSECURITY COMMITMENT: TP-Link is a signatory of the U.S. Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency’s (CISA) Secure-by-Design pledge. This device is designed, built, and maintained, with advanced security as a core requirement.
- Save the exact error. Note the page URL, time, full message, error code, and any request reference or Ray ID shown. A generic 403 is not, on its own, proof of an IP ban.
- Test the same account on another device using the same network. If it works on the second device, the original device or its connection settings may be relevant. If it fails on both, the network or account may be involved. Netflix recommends another device on the same network in one of its troubleshooting flows. Netflix troubleshooting guidance
- If appropriate, try the account on a trusted alternate connection. Follow the service’s rules and your organization’s policy. If the account works there but not on the original network, that points toward a network-related difference; it does not prove the site blocked the IP. Google notes that sign-in verification can be affected by a new device or location. Google Drive sign-in guidance
- Check whether other people or devices share the connection. A public IP can be shared by multiple users. Google says unusual-traffic warnings may be triggered by automated activity from another user on the same network or VPN. Check for unfamiliar devices or automated activity, and investigate possible malware if the warning persists. Google unusual-traffic guidance
Safe network troubleshooting to try
- If the page offers a CAPTCHA, complete it rather than repeatedly refreshing or retrying.
- If you recently changed VPN, proxy, tunnel, or custom DNS settings, restore the previous settings temporarily and retry. A network change is a diagnostic check, not a way to override a deliberate site restriction.
- For a service-specific connection problem, restart your home network only when that service’s guidance recommends it. Netflix lists VPN or proxy and custom DNS settings among items to check and advises contacting the ISP if its troubleshooting steps do not resolve the issue. Netflix troubleshooting guidance
- If unusual traffic continues, check network devices for automated activity and contact the network administrator or ISP as appropriate. Google recommends seeking administrator or ISP help when its warning persists. Google unusual-traffic guidance
Who to contact, and what to provide
Contact the person or organization that controls the layer where the restriction appears. A site owner can review the site’s IP, ASN, or geographic rules; a work or school administrator handles tenant restrictions; the service’s account recovery flow handles locked accounts; and an ISP can investigate a persistent connection problem or an ISP-level block.

- For an explicit IP or region error: Contact the website’s support or owner. Include the full error, URL, time, and any request reference, and ask them to investigate whether the connection was blocked. Cloudflare’s visitor guidance directs users to the site owner rather than its support team for customer security settings. Cloudflare error 1006 guidance
- For a work or school access policy: Send the exact notice and the account or organization you need to reach to your administrator. Microsoft says tenant restrictions are controlled by the organization. Microsoft tenant restrictions
- For an account lock or verification issue: Use the service’s official recovery or verification process rather than repeatedly attempting sign-in. Microsoft account unlock guidance
- For a persistent network problem: Contact your ISP or local network administrator, especially if the issue affects several services or users. The ISP can investigate its network; it cannot necessarily change a site owner’s access rule. Cloudflare overview of its role
What not to assume
- Do not treat every HTTP 403, “access denied,” or CAPTCHA as proof that your IP was banned. Service-specific pages can also reflect a temporary device or network connection issue.
- Do not assume that changing networks, using a VPN, or creating another account is an authorized fix. If a site or organization intentionally restricts access, ask its owner or administrator to review the decision.
- Do not assume the issue is account-wide just because you cannot sign in on one device, or network-wide because another person sees a warning on a shared connection. Compare the account, device, and network carefully.
