How much water does it remove in practice?
The 8L/day figure is a rated maximum at 20°C and 60% relative humidity. It should not be read as the amount the unit will collect every day: moisture removal varies with room temperature, humidity, room conditions and operation. Neither the public CHOICE page nor the cited manufacturer specifications establish an independently measured daily yield for this review.

Ionmax gives both a floor-area and volume guide: up to 60m² or 150m³, with the area figure based on a 2.5m ceiling. Volume is the more useful comparison if your ceiling is higher or lower. These are manufacturer recommendations, not a guarantee that one unit will control humidity uniformly throughout a home.
Is it suited to cool rooms and indoor laundry?
The manual’s stated ambient operating range is 1°C to 35°C, which makes the ION615 suitable for consideration in cooler spaces where a dehumidifier’s operating conditions matter. The published material does not provide extraction rates at different temperatures, so the 8L/day rating should not be assumed in a cold room.

For laundry, the unit has a continuous mode. Ionmax’s manual advises keeping clothing at least 30cm from the air outlet. For broader household use, it suggests positioning the unit centrally, such as in a hallway or on a landing, with internal doors open. Keep the unit on a stable, level surface and leave at least 30cm of clearance around it; avoid confined or poorly ventilated places and nearby heat sources.
Tank capacity, drainage and day-to-day controls
The 2L tank is small relative to the advertised maximum daily extraction. If the unit collects moisture quickly, expect to empty it more often than once a day. Alternatively, the product listing says continuous drainage is available using the supplied hose. The manual requires the hose to sit below the drain connector so water does not flow back into the tank.

The control range and indicators are useful for setting and checking a target, but they are not a substitute for a separate humidity measurement if you need one. According to the manual, the target can be set from 40% to 80% RH in 5-point increments. The display’s colour indicator is blue at 55% RH or below, green from 56% to 79%, and red at 80% or above. Fan speeds are low, medium and high; the timer runs up to eight hours.
App setup requires Bluetooth during pairing and a 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network, according to the manual. Confirm that your home network meets that requirement if app control is important to you.

Filter maintenance and replacement cost
The ION615 has a washable mesh filter and a replaceable H13 HEPA filter. The manual says to clean the mesh regularly and replace the filter when the indicator illuminates after 2,160 operating hours. That interval is an operating-hour trigger, not a calendar schedule: time to replacement will depend on how much the unit runs.
For cleaning, the manual says to switch off and unplug the unit, remove the filter and clean it gently. If washed, let it dry completely before reinstalling. Andatech Support distinguishes the washable mesh from the replaceable HEPA filter. Ionmax lists a bundle containing two compatible replacement filters; check the current price and confirm the exact ION615 fit before buying, since replacement-filter pricing is not established here.

CHOICE has a public review listing for the ION615, identifying it as a desiccant model and showing claimed removal of 8L/day, a recommended volume up to 150m³, an operating range of 1–35°C, a 9kg weight and a two-year warranty. The public page keeps its expert rating, pros and cons, running costs and detailed test results behind member access. Its existence therefore confirms that CHOICE reviewed the model, but does not establish whether the unit scored well, performed as claimed or earned a recommendation.
Price and availability in Australia
On 7 October 2026, Ionmax’s Australian product page displayed a price of $499 AUD and the wording “Pre-order for Early November.” This is a dated listing snapshot, not confirmation of current stock or delivery timing; check the live product page before ordering.
Who should consider the ION615?
- Consider it if you want a desiccant model with a stated 1–35°C operating range, laundry mode, continuous drainage and app control, and your room is within Ionmax’s recommended volume.
- Factor in upkeep if you expect frequent use: the 2L tank may need regular emptying without drainage, and the HEPA filter is a replaceable part with a 2,160-hour indicator interval.
- Compare further if independently verified water removal, measured running cost or measured noise is central to your decision; those results are not visible on CHOICE’s public listing.
Ionmax’s collection page also lists the ION610 and Vienne 10L as other models to investigate. The cited material does not provide comparable independent performance results for those alternatives, so it cannot establish that they are better or worse choices.
