InWin COVALENT Review: A Full-Tower Case for Workstations and Large Gaming Builds

The InWin COVALENT is a full tower built around roomy workstation-class compatibility. Here are its component limits, cooling support and practical tradeoffs.

The InWin COVALENT is best suited to a large workstation or a gaming PC that genuinely needs its roomy component support—not to a compact or price-first build. It supports EEB motherboards, GPUs up to 480 mm, up to 13 fans and two 420 mm radiators. Those are manufacturer specifications, not evidence of tested cooling, noise, gaming performance or build experience, so its fit for a particular system depends on the components, cooling plan, available space and local price.

Who should consider the InWin COVALENT?

InWin positions the COVALENT as a full-tower chassis for AI, high-performance computing, professional content creation and workstation builds. Its clearest advantage is the combination of EEB motherboard support, eight expansion slots, long-GPU clearance and extensive cooling options. Those features can also suit a gaming build with unusually large components or a custom liquid-cooling loop, but they do not establish that it outperforms smaller cases in games.

For a typical gaming PC, the practical question is whether you will use the extra capacity. If your motherboard, graphics card and cooling plan fit a smaller case, the COVALENT’s full-tower footprint may be unnecessary. If you need EEB support, space for a long GPU, or room to plan around multiple large radiators, its published specifications make it a more relevant candidate. InWin describes the case as optimized for airflow and sustained workloads; that is the manufacturer’s positioning, not a measured result.

Will your motherboard and components fit?

InWin lists support from Mini-ITX through EEB, with a maximum motherboard size of 305 × 330 mm (12 × 13 inches). Supported formats are EEB, E-ATX, ATX, Micro-ATX and Mini-ITX. The company also lists ASUS BTF, MSI Project Zero and Gigabyte Project Stealth back-connect designs as supported.

Published maximum clearances are 480 mm for a graphics card, 190 mm for a CPU heatsink and 250 mm in length for a PSII/ATX12V power supply. There are eight expansion slots. These figures are individual compatibility limits, not a guarantee that every maximum-size component will fit together in every configuration.

  • Check the exact motherboard dimensions and connector layout, particularly with a large EEB or back-connect board.
  • Confirm your GPU’s length, thickness and power-connector position, rather than relying on length alone.
  • Account for radiator placement, the PSU’s actual length and cable routing in the intended layout.
  • Use the InWin COVALENT specifications and manual to verify the specific combination before buying.

What cooling can it support, and which fans are included?

The case has mounting positions for up to 13 fans, all supporting 120 or 140 mm sizes. InWin lists four pre-installed CV140 fans: three at the front and one at the rear. The manufacturer describes the CV140 as a PWM ARGB 140 mm fan and specifies 600–1200 RPM, 62.95 CFM airflow, 1.2 mm H₂O air pressure and 24.4 dB(A) noise. Those are manufacturer figures, not independent measurements of the fans or the assembled case.

InWin advertises support for two 420 mm radiators, corresponding to the top and side mounting positions. Do not assume every fan position remains usable with every radiator and component combination; check the selected layout. Additional fans and radiators are optional unless a specific retailer listing says they are included. The specifications establish capacity, but do not provide independent thermal or noise testing.

How large is it, and what are the panel and port options?

The COVALENT measures 606 × 250 × 536 mm (23.9 × 9.8 × 21.1 inches). InWin lists net weight as 14.3 kg for the tempered-glass version and 13.9 kg for the solid-panel version. Measure the intended desk or floor space and consider the weight if you expect to move the case or transport a completed system.

  • 200mm Height for CPU Heatsink

Both versions are listed in black. The tempered-glass model is identified as TG; the solid-panel model is SP. InWin says the metal panel is intended to provide enhanced structural strength and thermal performance, but it does not publish comparative test data establishing those benefits.

Front I/O comprises one USB-C 3.2 Gen 2×2 port, two USB 3.2 Gen 1 ports, two USB 2.0 ports and a CTIA-compatible HD audio connection for speaker and microphone. The front also has a power button and LED lighting control. Check that your motherboard has the internal headers needed for the ports you plan to use.

How flexible are its storage and build features?

InWin lists drive-bay arrangements combining 3.5-inch and 2.5-inch drives, including configurations with one 3.5-inch/two 2.5-inch positions and four 3.5-inch/two 2.5-inch positions. The US store also lists optional bracket configurations. Treat these as configuration-dependent options, not a promise that every listed bay is available at once; confirm which brackets are included in the regional package and how the chosen layout affects other components.

Build-related features listed by InWin include tool-free side panels, a thumbscrew PSU bracket, a separate PSU chamber, rubber grommets, Velcro ties and rear cable clips. The PWM/ARGB fan hub supports up to six sets. The optional GPU holder is not included, and availability can vary by region.

  • 330° Full-View Tempered Glass Panels (ATX Full-Tower Design): Triple tempered-glass panels (front/top/side) create a 330° panoramic display for gaming builds. As a full-tower case, DY460 offers extra internal space for large hardware (e.g., 400mm GPUs) — ideal for modders and streamers who need room to breathe.(Tip: always confirm your cooler & GPU dimensions before ordering.)
  • Pre-installed 4× darkFlash INF34 ARGB PWM Fans: Ships with four 120mm ARGB PWM fans (0–1800 RPM) for vivid lighting and precise cooling control. Designed for a full-tower internal layout that accommodates additional fans or thicker radiators without crowding.
  • High-Airflow Layout & 360mm Radiator Support: Top 360mm / front 240mm radiator mounts plus 3×120mm bottom fan slots optimize airflow. With 34mm rear cable routing, the DY460 keeps a tidy build and strong airflow for sustained performance.
  • Full-Tower GPU & CPU Cooler Support (Confirm Before Purchase): Fits GPUs up to 400mm horizontally (compatible with many flagship cards) and CPU coolers up to 185mm total height (fan included). Vertical GPU mounting is supported (vertical bracket sold separately). Quick pre-purchase tip: measure your cooler’s total installed height and compare to 185mm to avoid fit issues.
  • Separate PSU Chamber & Top USB-C I/O: Bottom PSU chamber isolates cables for improved airflow. Top I/O includes USB-C (10Gbps) + USB 3.0, and the case provides 34mm cable-routing depth for clean management even with multiple drives.

What does it cost, and is it worth choosing?

InWin’s European eStore displayed a price of €144.99 and limited inventory when the listing was checked for this article; that snapshot is not a current or universal market price. Check the InWin European store listing and your local sellers for today’s price, stock and exact TG or SP model. InWin notes that specifications may vary by region.

The COVALENT is a plausible choice when its unusually broad capacity solves a real build requirement: EEB or back-connect support, eight expansion slots, substantial GPU clearance, or a plan involving large radiators. For gaming, it is worth considering if your parts and cooling plan need that space and the case’s size and local price make sense. The available specifications alone cannot establish comparative gaming performance, measured thermals, noise, assembly ease or value.
