Build the hero as a clear, usable page first, then add motion that reinforces its campaign story. Keep the headline, supporting copy, image and call to action in semantic HTML; use CSS to art-direct the composition; and use GSAP for purposeful animation. The page should still make sense if JavaScript does not run, and it should offer a calmer alternative when a visitor prefers reduced motion.
Plan the hero before adding animation
A fashion hero has to do two jobs at once: establish a visual mood and tell visitors what they can do next. Decide on the campaign image, message and primary action before choosing effects. Motion should direct attention through those elements, not delay or obscure them.

- Campaign image: Choose a focal point and plan how it will crop at narrow and wide viewports.
- Headline and supporting copy: Keep the campaign message available as real text, not text embedded in an image.
- Call to action: Use a real link or button with a clear label. It should remain visible and usable without animation.
- Motion purpose: Pick a small sequence that supports the message, such as revealing the image, introducing the headline, then drawing attention to the action.
These are design recommendations, not a report of a tested finished build. The technical capabilities described below are documented by GreenSock and MDN.

Use semantic HTML for the hero’s headline, copy, campaign imagery and action. Keep the content in its useful resting state in the document; do not make visitors wait for a GSAP timeline to reveal information they need. CSS should establish the layout, type, image crop, layering and responsive spacing.

Think of the hero as a composition with a stable reading order. On a wide screen, the image and text might sit side by side or overlap deliberately; on a narrow screen, they may need a simpler stacked arrangement. Check that the image crop still preserves its subject and that text remains legible at both sizes. No particular asset library, platform or finished layout is required by the sources.
Use GSAP to coordinate a restrained entrance
GSAP can animate CSS-related properties including transforms, opacity and color. In JavaScript configuration, CSS property names written with hyphens use camelCase—for example, background-color becomes backgroundColor. See GreenSock’s CSS documentation.
A practical sequence can reveal the campaign image, introduce the headline and then make the call to action clear. Prefer a few intentional cues over continuous movement. Keep the content understandable if the sequence is skipped, interrupted or unavailable; the animation is an enhancement, not the delivery mechanism for the message.
Add scroll or drag interaction only when it serves the story
Scroll-linked transitions
Use ScrollTrigger when the campaign benefits from a transition tied to page scrolling—for example, a staged reveal or a pinned sequence that adds meaning to the presentation. It can trigger animations, scrub their progress with scrolling, pin elements, run lifecycle callbacks and recalculate on resize. GreenSock says ScrollTrigger uses native scrolling rather than taking over scroll behavior. Its documentation is at GreenSock’s ScrollTrigger guide.
Rank #3
A scroll effect should not be the only way to understand the hero or reach its action. If pinning or scrubbing adds complexity without strengthening the campaign narrative, leave it out.
Direct manipulation
Draggable is appropriate when visitors have a meaningful reason to manipulate an image directly, such as inspecting or rotating a product view. It supports mouse and touch input, bounds, axis constraints and callbacks. Momentum behavior requires the optional InertiaPlugin. Details are in GreenSock’s Draggable documentation.

Do not make dragging necessary to see the product, read the campaign message or use the call to action. A decorative draggable image adds an interaction cost without necessarily helping visitors.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsProvide a reduced-motion experience
Use the prefers-reduced-motion media feature to respond to a visitor’s system preference. MDN notes that large-object scaling or panning can cause discomfort for some people with vestibular motion disorders. For this hero, replace pronounced movement with a static composition or, where suitable, a restrained fade. Keep the headline and call to action in the same usable state.
Best Value
MDN explains how to use the feature in its prefers-reduced-motion reference. Treat reduced motion as an alternate presentation, not as a reason to hide content or remove the action.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Choose animation properties with rendering costs in mind
Animating dimensions, positions and other layout-affecting properties can trigger reflow and repaint. MDN notes that transforms and opacity may avoid those costs, but performance depends on the implementation; choosing those properties does not guarantee that an animation will be fast. See MDN’s animation performance guidance.
Use transforms and opacity where they communicate the intended change, and avoid animating layout-heavy properties when a simpler effect will do. Evaluate the actual page rather than assuming a particular technique guarantees smoothness.

Check the finished hero at different settings
- At narrow and wide viewport sizes, confirm that the image crop, text hierarchy and action remain clear.
- With reduced motion enabled, confirm that the static or restrained alternative preserves the message and usable action.
- With JavaScript unavailable, confirm that the semantic content remains present rather than depending on an entrance animation.
- For any scroll or drag interaction, confirm that it is optional and does not block comprehension or navigation.
These checks are a practical implementation checklist, not claims that a particular page has already passed testing.
