1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFor an interactive chart, choose a tool by where the finished work must live—an embeddable article, a shared business report, a notebook, a web app, or a presentation—and by who needs access. A free authoring tier does not necessarily include private sharing, unbranded embeds, generous compute, or paid-user access. The options below are the well-documented choices for those different workflows; they are not a like-for-like ranking.
What to compare before choosing an interactive chart maker
Start with the deliverable, then price the full route from creation to every intended viewer. An interactive chart embedded in a public story has different requirements from a governed internal dashboard or a coded web app.
As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.
- Output: Is the result an embedded chart, interactive story, dashboard, notebook, web app, or presentation graphic?
- Authoring: Can the intended creator work with point-and-click controls, or does the workflow assume code or a notebook?
- Data: Check source connections, preparation, refresh behavior, and whether another service or warehouse is needed.
- Audience: Confirm public or private access, viewer limits and fees, embed controls, and whether branding can be removed.
- Portability: Verify which export formats are available, whether self-hosting is possible, and what happens to a live chart if the subscription changes.
- Full cost: Count creator and editor seats, viewer seats, annual commitments, compute or credits, API use, capacity, tax, and any sales-quoted services.
Tools for different charting workflows
These options have different strengths and pricing models, so their listed prices should not be treated as directly comparable. Vendor prices and plan terms below were checked on October 7, 2026; confirm current terms before committing.
Datawrapper: charts, maps, and tables for publishing
Datawrapper is suited to embeddable visualizations for published storytelling. Its free plan includes publishing and PNG export. Paid Pro and Business plans add options such as removing attribution, PDF or SVG export, extended edit history, or additional chart types, depending on plan. Listed prices are in USD and exclude VAT. API use has a separate operation-based charge; the vendor says the relevant billing took effect October 1, 2026. Review the Datawrapper pricing and API terms if a chart will be created, published, or exported through the API.

Team is $40 per editor per month with annual billing or $45 billed monthly; team private viewers cost $10 per viewer per month. Pro and Team list 50 minutes of monthly compute per person or editor, respectively, so estimate usage against that allowance. See Observable’s plans and compute terms.
Google Data Studio: no-cost reports and dashboards
Google describes Data Studio—also known as Looker Studio—as a no-cost, drag-and-drop option for ad hoc reporting, interactive dashboards, and web embedding. Its documentation says it can connect to more than 1,000 data sources. Google presents it as suitable for one-off reports or single and pre-aggregated data sources. Data Studio Pro adds enterprise capabilities and technical support. Do not confuse either with Looker, Google’s separate paid BI platform, which uses sales pricing and user licensing. Compare the products in Google’s Data Studio documentation and review Looker’s pricing information separately.

Canva Graph Maker: quick visual presentation
Canva’s Graph Maker is a route for quickly designing a graph for a visual presentation. It is not automatically equivalent to a chart-focused service’s publishing or developer workflow. Flourish says its Presenter functionality works with Canva Business or Enterprise and lets users embed interactive Flourish charts in Canva designs and PowerPoint. See Canva Graph Maker and the Flourish plan details to check the specific workflow and qualifying plan.

Best Value
- 5-in-1 Connectivity: Equipped with a 4K HDMI port, a 5 Gbps USB-C data port, two 5 Gbps USB-A ports, and a USB C 100W PD-IN port. Note: The USB C 100W PD-IN port supports only charging and does not support data transfer devices such as headphones or speakers.
- Powerful Pass-Through Charging: Supports up to 85W pass-through charging so you can power up your laptop while you use the hub. Note: Pass-through charging requires a charger (not included). Note: To achieve full power for iPad, we recommend using a 45W wall charger.
- Transfer Files in Seconds: Move files to and from your laptop at speeds of up to 5 Gbps via the USB-C and USB-A data ports. Note: The USB C 5Gbps Data port does not support video output.
- HD Display: Connect to the HDMI port to stream or mirror content to an external monitor in resolutions of up to 4K@30Hz. Note: The USB-C ports do not support video output.
- What You Get: Anker 332 USB-C Hub (5-in-1), welcome guide, our worry-free 18-month warranty, and friendly customer service.
- Paid access for the audience: Separate creators and editors from casual viewers. Some tools charge for private viewers or require particular licenses to share reports.
- Minimum seats and annual billing: A low per-user figure can be misleading if the deployment needs a minimum role or an annual contract. For Tableau Cloud, include the required Creator in the estimate.
- Publishing, branding, and export: Check whether public or private sharing and embedding are included, whether attribution remains visible, and whether the required PNG, SVG, PDF, or HTML export needs a higher tier.
- Usage limits: Plotly meters credits and private viewers; Observable lists compute allowances and team private-viewer charges; Datawrapper prices API operations separately. Forecast usage rather than assuming the included allowance is sufficient.
- Infrastructure and governance: Depending on the workflow, data connectors, refresh infrastructure, hosting, cloud capacity, custom domains, support, single sign-on, governance, or self-hosting can affect the total. These are not interchangeable plan features.
- Tax and currency: Confirm billing cadence, currency, and tax treatment. Datawrapper explicitly excludes VAT from its listed prices; other vendors’ displayed prices may have different terms.
- Sales-quoted plans: Treat a custom enterprise price as unknown until you have a quote. Ask what the contract includes—users, capacity, hosting, support, and term—rather than inferring a per-seat equivalent.
How to make an interactive chart without choosing by gallery alone
- Define the destination. Decide whether the chart must be embedded in a public page, shared privately in a business report, published as an app, or presented in a slide or design.
- Identify the data path. Note the data source, preparation steps, refresh schedule, and whether the tool or your organization must host any part of the workflow.
- Count people by role. List creators, editors, and viewers separately. For private audiences, check whether viewers need licenses, consume capacity, or incur a separate fee.
- Check the exact publishing requirements. Confirm privacy, embedding, attribution, brand controls, and required export formats on the plan you are considering.
- Estimate recurring use. Include seats, annual commitments, compute, credits, API operations, capacity, taxes, and any supporting infrastructure. Use a vendor quote where the price is not public.
- Validate the exit route. Confirm whether you can export or host the result and what changes if you stop paying, especially if the chart must remain available to readers or customers.
Which tool should you choose?
For public, embeddable storytelling, compare Datawrapper and Flourish on attribution, export, and update needs. For a coded app, examine Plotly’s credit and viewer model; for notebooks and collaborative code, compare Observable’s compute and viewer allowances. Organizations already standardizing on role-based BI can evaluate Tableau Cloud or Power BI by counting both authors and report consumers. For lightweight reporting, Google Data Studio may fit; for presentation-first graph design, Canva Graph Maker is a different kind of option. The best fit is the one whose data workflow, publishing controls, and full audience cost match the job.
