Intel offers a recovery thesis built on CPU demand and manufacturing execution; Nvidia offers a growth thesis tied heavily to AI infrastructure spending. Deciding between them requires comparing both stocks’ prices with earnings and cash-flow expectations measured on the same date and using the same method. The available figures do not establish that comparison, so the answer depends on which business risks you are willing to accept—and what price you pay.

What the latest results say—and what they do not
The reported figures show substantial differences in scale and business momentum, but the periods are not directly comparable: Intel reports on a calendar-quarter basis here, while Nvidia’s reported quarter is fiscal. Revenue growth also does not, by itself, show whether a stock is attractively priced or whether that growth will continue.

| Company and period | Reported revenue | What matters to the investment case |
|---|---|---|
| Intel, Q2 2026 | $16.1 billion, up 25% year over year | Data Center and AI revenue was $6.3 billion, up 59% year over year. Intel forecast Q3 2026 revenue of $15.8 billion to $16.8 billion; that range is management guidance, not a realized result. |
| Nvidia, Q2 fiscal 2027 | $96.2 billion, up 106% year over year | Data Center revenue was $89.0 billion, making continued customer investment in AI infrastructure central to the current growth thesis. |
| Nvidia, fiscal 2026 | $215.9 billion, up 65% year over year | This is a full-year result, not a quarter-to-quarter comparison with the Intel figure above. |
Intel’s figures are from its Q2 2026 results release, published July 23, 2026. Nvidia’s quarterly figures are from its Q2 fiscal 2027 results release, published August 26, 2026; its annual figures are in its fiscal 2026 annual filing, published May 12, 2026. These are company-reported results, not independent assessments of sustainable growth.

What would need to go right for Intel?
Product demand and the recovery
Intel’s reported growth gives the recovery case something to build on, particularly in its Data Center and AI segment. The investor question is whether demand can translate into competitive products and durable earnings and cash generation—not merely whether revenue has risen. Intel’s Q3 revenue range is a forecast, so it should be judged against the result when reported rather than treated as achieved growth.
Manufacturing milestones are not the same as commercial success
Intel said Intel 18A-P entered risk production in June 2026. That is an execution milestone, not evidence by itself of production yields, cost competitiveness, large external customer volumes, or profitable foundry operations. Investors underwriting Intel’s foundry potential should look for proof across those steps rather than treating a roadmap checkpoint as proof that the business model has succeeded. Intel describes the milestone and other quarterly developments in its Q2 2026 release.
Separate the unusual filing item from operating performance
Intel’s Q2 2026 Form 10-Q describes a $12.5 billion loss associated with changes in the fair value of shares released from and remaining in escrow under agreements with the U.S. government. This is a specific fair-value item disclosed in the filing; it should not be casually treated as a recurring operating cost or as a straightforward measure of the quarter’s underlying product performance. Investors evaluating results should read the filing’s explanation and distinguish that item from operating trends. Intel Q2 2026 Form 10-Q, for the quarter ended June 27, 2026.

What would need to go right for Nvidia?
AI infrastructure investment must remain durable
Nvidia’s Data Center revenue accounts for most of its latest reported quarterly revenue. That makes the thesis sensitive to whether customers continue investing in AI infrastructure and can deploy systems at a pace that supports demand. The current growth rate is evidence of recent performance, not a guarantee that customer spending or Nvidia’s revenue will keep growing at the same rate.

Platform strength still faces business and external risks
Nvidia’s fiscal 2026 annual filing identifies risks including competition, supply and customer exposure, and geographic and export constraints. Those risks matter alongside the company’s growth: competition can pressure demand or economics, supply constraints can affect its ability to serve customers, and customer exposure or restrictions can affect sales. The filing provides the company’s detailed disclosures in its fiscal 2026 annual report. No current growth rate should be assumed to continue without regard to those factors.
How to compare the stocks as investments
A good company is not automatically a good stock at every price. For a fair comparison, use the same date and consistent assumptions for both companies. A forward earnings multiple is informative only if both figures use the same estimate period and data provider; a free-cash-flow comparison should likewise use a consistent definition.

| Investment question | Intel | Nvidia |
|---|---|---|
| Growth and demand | Can CPU, server, and other product demand sustain the recovery? | Can customers keep investing in AI infrastructure and deploying systems? |
| Execution | Can Intel deliver process technology, yields, competitive products, and foundry customers at attractive economics? | Can Nvidia sustain product transitions, supply availability, platform advantages, and customer demand? |
| Margins and cash generation | What investment and factory costs are required, and when could they support durable cash generation? | How durable are current economics after considering supply, competition, customer spending, and export risks? |
| Concentration and external risks | How sensitive is the case to manufacturing milestones, government-related arrangements, and market competition? | How sensitive is the case to Data Center demand, customer exposure, competition, and geographic restrictions? |
| Valuation | What does the share price imply about future earnings and cash flow, using the same date and method as for Nvidia? | What growth is already implied by the share price under that same method? |
A market-data provider listed Nvidia at $239.24 at the October 6, 2026 close and a forward P/E of 19.78 in its October 7 snapshot. These are provider-defined, fast-changing figures, and no comparable Intel snapshot is established here; they cannot support a relative valuation verdict. See the Nvidia quote snapshot.
For a usable valuation comparison, gather same-date share prices and apply the same methodology to both stocks. Consider forward earnings alongside free-cash-flow yield, capital expenditure, dilution, balance-sheet position, and the growth assumptions embedded in each price. If you cannot establish comparable inputs, keep the conclusion conditional rather than inferring value from revenue growth or a single stock’s multiple.

Which stock fits which investment thesis?
Intel may fit an execution-recovery thesis
Intel may appeal to an investor willing to accept manufacturing and product-execution risk in exchange for the possibility that its CPU business and foundry efforts improve. The key evidence to monitor is whether milestones lead to competitive products, attractive production economics, customer demand, and sustained cash generation.
Nvidia may fit an AI-infrastructure growth thesis
Nvidia may suit an investor who expects AI infrastructure investment and the company’s platform economics to remain durable. That case depends on continued demand and execution while accounting for competition, supply and customer exposure, and geographic or export constraints.
Neither thesis is certain, and either can fail. The better buy in 2026 is therefore not determined by which company reported faster growth; it depends on the risks you accept and whether the price offers adequate value against a consistent, defensible outlook for earnings and cash flow.
