A rumor reported by VideoCardz, citing leaker Jaykihn, says broader distribution of Nova Lake DS qualification samples is expected in December 2026. That is a reported sample-access window—not a retail launch date, and not evidence that no DS samples exist before then.
What is reportedly happening with Nova Lake DS samples?
VideoCardz reported on October 5, 2026, that Jaykihn said Intel is using a more restrictive early sampling process for some Nova Lake DS processors, with broader sampling expected in December. Jaykihn’s statement, posted October 4 and reproduced by VideoCardz, reads: “As I’d previously disclosed, the broader sampling for DS SKUs occurs in December. This is actually later than the other SKU segments in the Q1 lineup, but that is when details would emerge prior to launch, if any.”

VideoCardz labels the report a rumor. Intel has not confirmed the leaked desktop lineup, the sampling restriction, or the December timing. The report does not say how many DS samples exist, which partners may have them, or why access is limited. Read VideoCardz’s October 5 report.
Crashes, No Sound, or Screen Glitches?

Here, “broader sampling” refers to wider access to pre-release qualification samples (QS) for the DS segment, according to Jaykihn as quoted by VideoCardz. It does not mean that consumers can buy the processors in December. Sample distribution, qualification, embargoes, and retail availability are different stages; the reported date addresses sampling only.

There is also evidence that Nova Lake QS support is already appearing in validation-related software. VideoCardz reported on September 20 that HWiNFO 8.53 Build 6075 listed “Improved Nova Lake QS support and fixed SA VID reporting.” The outlet interprets the changelog as indicating that QS hardware is available to at least some developers or validation partners. A software changelog is not direct confirmation of sample quantities, recipients, or Intel’s distribution policy. See the HWiNFO changelog report.
When might Intel Core Ultra 400 desktop CPUs launch?
There is no confirmed launch date in the cited reporting. Separate July leaks described staggered windows for Nova Lake desktop models, but VideoCardz said the ranges refer to embargo stages rather than a single retail date. Tom’s Hardware likewise reported that Intel had not officially confirmed a Nova Lake launch date. These are leaked schedules, not promises of when shoppers will be able to buy a processor.

What does DS mean in the leaked reports?
VideoCardz describes “DS” as an internal package designation typically associated with dual compute tile variants, but its reported configurations do not map neatly to that description: the 28-core DS package is said to have one compute tile, while the 52-core version is said to have two. The label’s meaning is therefore not established consistently enough to treat it as a definitive architecture description. The July report provides the configuration details.
