You can install a driver on Windows 10 without a CD, but first identify which device needs it. AMD’s driver tools support compatible Radeon graphics and Ryzen chipsets—not scanner hardware. For a scanner or multifunction printer, use the device maker’s driver or check Windows Update.
First, identify what “AMD scanner” means
AMD’s driver downloads are for supported AMD components, including Radeon graphics and Ryzen chipsets. They do not identify or install a scanner driver. If the issue is a display or chipset problem, find the AMD product model. If Windows cannot scan, find the scanner or multifunction printer’s manufacturer and exact model.

Install a compatible AMD driver without a CD
Use AMD Auto-Detect for a supported PC
AMD’s Auto-Detect and Install tool checks for compatible Radeon graphics, Ryzen chipsets, and Windows versions, then downloads supporting AMD drivers. AMD’s article was last updated June 2, 2025. The tool requires an internet connection to run, and its current guidance specifies Windows 10 64-bit version 1809 and later. Check the current download page and your hardware eligibility before proceeding.
- On the Windows 10 PC, open AMD Support’s driver download page and choose the Auto-Detect option if your product and Windows version are eligible.
- Download the tool and run the downloaded file.
- Allow it to check hardware compatibility and obtain the supporting driver, then follow the installer prompts.
Choose a driver manually
If Auto-Detect is not suitable, use AMD’s product selector on the same driver page. Select the exact Radeon or Ryzen chipset product and the Windows version before downloading. Do not assume a current release supports every AMD component: AMD says some older Radeon products no longer receive current Radeon Software releases. For those products, AMD recommends keeping the installed driver or using the final driver it released for that product.

If the Windows PC is offline
Auto-Detect needs internet access. As a general workaround, use another connected device to download the package that matches the exact AMD product and Windows version, transfer it to the Windows 10 PC, and run it there. This is a manual transfer approach, not an offline mode promised for Auto-Detect.
Install a scanner driver without its installation disc
For a scanner, search the scanner manufacturer’s support site using the exact model number and select the Windows 10 driver or software listed for it. If no driver is available there, check Windows Update. Do not substitute an AMD graphics or chipset package: it will not install scanner support.

Windows supports scanning from many Mopria-certified scanners and multifunction printers. Mopria says Windows can automatically install a certified device when its manufacturer’s driver is unavailable through Windows Update, so extra software may not be needed in that situation. Choose an AMD installer option if prompted
AMD’s Adrenalin installer offers Default, Minimal, and Driver Only choices. Driver Only installs the driver without the AMD Software interface; the software options include additional controls and features. When installation does not work
- The installer says the hardware is unsupported: Recheck the exact model and Windows version. For an older Radeon product, look for its final available driver rather than assuming the newest release will work.
- Auto-Detect cannot run: Confirm the PC meets the stated Windows 10 64-bit version 1809-or-later requirement and has internet access. If offline, use the manual download-and-transfer workaround.
- The scanner is not detected or cannot scan: Verify the scanner model, use its manufacturer’s Windows 10 support page, and check Windows Update. Mopria support applies only to compatible certified devices.
