Why poll results may not appear in a Highlight
A Highlight keeps a Story visible on your profile after its usual 24-hour run, but that does not mean it preserves every interactive control or the original results view. A recent topic-specific guide describes the poll shown in a Highlight as a static final state rather than an active results panel. In practical terms, a Highlight may show the Story and its poll without offering the same response details you saw while the Story was live. Seeing the poll in the Highlight does not establish that its voter list or activity view is still available.

Check a live poll from the original Story
- Open the live Story itself, rather than entering through its profile Highlight.
- Tap the viewer or activity control, often labeled “Seen By,” and look for the poll’s response details.
- If the interface differs, look for the equivalent viewer/activity view; Instagram’s labels can change.

Check an expired poll in Story Archive
- Go to your Instagram profile and open the profile menu.
- Select Archive and confirm that Story Archive is selected.
- Find the date of the original poll Story and open it to check what activity or results remain available.
This works only if the Story is still available in Archive; the guidance does not establish that every archived poll retains the same level of detail. Chatfuel describes Archive as a place to revisit expired Stories and poll results when archiving is on. Read Chatfuel’s poll guide.
Do percentages or voter names remain after 24 hours?
There is no verified, universal retention guarantee in the available evidence. A September 25, 2026 InstaViewer post reports that its checks found poll percentages remaining after 24 hours while voter names did not. InstaViewer is not affiliated with Instagram, and this is a limited third-party observation, not an official Instagram policy; your account or app may behave differently. Older guides also describe results stopping their live updates after a Story expires, but that does not prove exactly which details Instagram retains in every case. Avoid assuming that a visible percentage means the voter list is still accessible, or that the absence of details means a specific backend deletion occurred.

- Return to the original Story in the live viewer or Story Archive rather than relying on Highlight playback.
- Check that Instagram is current, then reopen the Story and try the activity view again. This is a basic troubleshooting step, not a guaranteed fix.
- If the original Story is absent from Archive, the available sources do not establish a way to recover its underlying poll activity from the Highlight.
- For a future poll whose response details matter, capture the activity/results screen before the Story expires. A screenshot is only a manual record; it cannot recover data that is no longer available in Instagram.
Should you use a third-party recovery tool?
No legitimate tool for restoring private or expired Instagram poll data is established here. The practical options are Instagram’s own live Story and Archive views, where available; do not rely on a third-party service promising to recover missing voter details.
