Identify the TV platform, then follow the matching steps below. Wireless methods commonly require both devices to use the same Wi-Fi network; not every model or phone supports every feature.
First, identify whether your Insignia TV runs Roku TV or Fire TV
Check the TV’s home screen or Settings menu for Roku or Fire TV branding. If the platform is unclear, find the model number on the television’s label or in its settings and consult the manual for that exact model. Insignia TVs do not all use the same phone-connection steps.

The Insignia manual for Roku TV models NS-43DR710NA17, NS-50DR710NA17, and NS-55DR710NA17 documents the Roku mobile app and screen mirroring. Current Roku instructions are useful for newer platform behavior, while Fire TV follows Amazon’s separate procedures. A support answer for one Insignia F50 Fire TV model is model-specific, not proof that every Insignia set has the same features. Insignia product manuals Roku support for Insignia Roku TVs

| Control the TV | Use the free Roku mobile app; the phone and TV must share Wi-Fi. | The instructions here do not establish a universal phone-remote app procedure for every Insignia Fire TV model; check the exact model’s support information. |

Use your phone as a remote for a Roku Insignia TV
- Connect the phone and TV to the same Wi-Fi network.
- Install and open the free Roku mobile app, then allow it to access the local network if prompted.
- Select the Roku TV in the app and use its remote controls.
On an iPhone or iPad running iOS 14 or later, enable Local Network access for the Roku app in iOS Settings if device discovery does not work. A VPN that routes traffic away from your local network can also interfere.

Cast a show or video from an app to a Roku TV
- Confirm the app is available on both your phone and the Roku TV, and connect both devices to the same wireless network.
- Open the app on your phone, start or select the video, and tap its cast control.
- Choose the Roku TV from the device list.
Casting sends selected app content to the TV; it does not reproduce the phone’s menus and other activity. Roku says playback can continue on the TV independently after it starts, unlike mirroring, which shows the phone’s activity. Roku: cast apps to your TV
Mirror an Android phone to a Roku TV
- Connect the Android phone and Roku TV to the same Wi-Fi network.
- On the phone, open its screen-mirroring control. Depending on the phone, it may be called Smart View, Wireless display, Screen casting, or something similar.
- Select the Roku TV. If a permission prompt appears on the television, accept it with the TV remote.
Menu labels and compatibility vary by phone. Roku’s guide uses Samsung Smart View as an example and describes other common names for the setting. Check that the particular phone and TV support mirroring before troubleshooting. Roku: screen mirroring
Mirror an iPhone to a Roku TV with AirPlay
- Check that the specific Roku model and software support AirPlay, then connect the iPhone and TV to the same wireless network.
- On the Roku TV, open Settings > Apple AirPlay and HomeKit and make sure AirPlay is enabled.
- On the iPhone, open Control Center, tap Screen Mirroring, and select the Roku TV. Follow any on-screen prompt.
AirPlay support is model- and software-dependent, so do not assume every Roku-based Insignia TV offers it. Roku: use AirPlay with your Roku device

Mirror a phone to an Insignia Fire TV
Android: check for Miracast support
- Confirm that the phone supports Miracast and that the Fire TV model supports mirroring.
- Connect the phone and TV to the same Wi-Fi network.
- On the TV, open Settings > Display & Sounds > Enable Display Mirroring.
- Start the compatible wireless-display or mirroring function on the phone and choose the Fire TV.
If Enable Display Mirroring is missing, Amazon says that Fire TV is not compatible with this mirroring route. Amazon’s procedure applies only to compatible phones and Fire TV models. Amazon: mirror a device to Fire TV

Amazon’s AirPlay setup route on supported Fire TV Smart TVs is Settings > Display & Audio > AirPlay & HomeKit. Follow the TV’s setup prompts, then use AirPlay on the iPhone to select the TV. Amazon explicitly notes that AirPlay is not compatible with all Fire TV Smart TVs; verify the exact model before relying on this option. Amazon: set up AirPlay and HomeKit on Fire TV

The Roku app cannot find the TV
- Check that the phone and TV are on the same Wi-Fi network.
- On iOS 14 or later, allow Local Network access for the Roku app.
- Temporarily disconnect a VPN if it prevents local-network discovery.
- Check whether the router isolates wireless clients or separates network bands in a way that keeps the devices from reaching each other.
- Confirm the Roku TV allows control by mobile apps, then restart the app or devices if needed.
Roku’s connection guidance covers network access and mobile-app control settings. Roku support for Insignia Roku TVs
Roku screen mirroring or AirPlay fails
- Verify compatibility for the exact phone, TV model, and software.
- Reconnect both devices to the same wireless network and confirm the Roku mirroring or AirPlay setting is enabled.
- For mirroring problems, restart the Roku device and router, then reconnect the phone.
Fire TV mirroring fails
- For Android Miracast, confirm phone support and check whether Enable Display Mirroring appears in the Fire TV settings.
- For iPhone AirPlay, confirm that the specific Fire TV Smart TV supports it and use the AirPlay & HomeKit setup route.
If a setting or feature is absent, check the manual and support information for the exact Insignia model rather than assuming another Insignia TV’s instructions apply.
