For genuinely live gameplay, you need a live game source and an encoder—or a cloud-hosted gaming machine capable of running the game. First enable YouTube live streaming, then connect the chosen service or encoder to YouTube with a private stream key.
Choose between a gameplay replay and genuinely live gameplay
These are different workflows, even though both appear as live streams on YouTube:
- Prerecorded gameplay: A cloud service plays and encodes uploaded recordings or a playlist continuously. This is the closer fit for unattended 24/7 broadcasting.
- Live gameplay: A game must be running and its output captured in real time. Use a live capture source and encoder, or a cloud machine that can run the game and encoder. YouTube’s documentation confirms encoder-based gameplay streaming, but does not specify a recommended cloud gaming VM configuration for India.
YouTube’s encoder directory describes Gyre as a cloud tool for 24/7 prerecorded-video streams and lists Upstream as a browser-based 24/7 live-streaming studio. Those listings do not establish India availability or confirm that every service suits prerecorded gaming footage. Check the provider’s current capabilities and terms before choosing.
Prepare your YouTube channel before configuring the stream
- The channel must be verified and must not have had a live-streaming restriction in the previous 90 days.
- First-time live activation can take up to 24 hours. Enable it well ahead of your planned start.
- YouTube’s general live-stream guide says streamers must be at least 16.
Review YouTube’s live-streaming requirements and setup guidance before scheduling. A restriction or incomplete activation can prevent an otherwise correctly configured encoder from going live.

Set up a cloud loop for prerecorded gaming videos
- Prepare the source videos. Choose recordings you have the right to use, and make a playlist or upload the files to the service you select. Confirm its supported file formats, storage limits, playlist behavior, and what happens at the end of a loop; these details vary by provider.
- Compare cloud services for the exact workflow. Check whether the service plays uploaded videos continuously, supports your intended resolution and frame rate, and offers restart or alerting controls. YouTube’s directory includes Gyre for prerecorded 24/7 streams; verify current India availability, pricing, and suitability for gaming content directly with the provider.
- Create the YouTube broadcast. In YouTube Studio, open Live Control Room and create or schedule a stream. Copy the server URL and stream key shown for that broadcast into the cloud service’s YouTube connection settings.
- Keep the stream key private. Treat it like a password: do not post it, put it in a public playlist description, or share it with people who should not be able to broadcast to your channel. If it is exposed, replace or reset it in YouTube Studio and update the service using the new key.
- Test before leaving it unattended. Start a private or unlisted test if appropriate, check the video, audio, and YouTube stream-health indicators, and confirm that the playlist advances as expected. Arrange a human to monitor chat and respond to interruptions; a 24/7 playout service does not itself establish that a stream is moderated or guaranteed to stay online.
Set up live gameplay through a cloud encoder or gaming machine
For a real-time game, the cloud host must run the game or receive its live video feed, then encode and send that feed to YouTube. This is not the same as looping a recording. The official sources reviewed do not identify a particular India-region VM size or GPU configuration, so select infrastructure only after confirming the game’s system requirements, capture method, encoder compatibility, network capacity, and provider region.
- Provision the source and encoder. Use a cloud gaming machine that can run the game and capture its output, or send a live capture feed to a cloud encoder. Confirm the machine can sustain the desired frame rate while encoding; a cloud VM is not automatically a gaming PC.
- Create the YouTube stream. In YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room, create or schedule the broadcast. Copy its server URL and stream key into the encoder. Use RTMPS where supported for encrypted transport.
- Match output to the source and uplink. Do not upscale a lower-resolution game feed just to select a larger output setting. Pick a frame rate and resolution the source and encoder can sustain, then configure bitrate and keyframes using the settings below.
- Test motion and audio. Check fast gameplay, music and voice levels, dropped frames, and YouTube’s stream-health status before relying on the setup for a long session.
- Plan for recovery and moderation. Confirm how the cloud host and encoder restart after a failure, whether alerts are available, and who will moderate chat. YouTube’s setup guidance does not guarantee a third-party service’s uptime or recovery behavior.

YouTube’s recommended settings are guidance, not a measured performance guarantee. Select the bitrate row for the codec and output you actually use.

- Rate control: CBR.
- Frame rate: Up to 60 fps.
- Keyframe interval: Two seconds recommended; do not exceed four seconds.
- Transport: Use RTMPS where supported.
These figures are YouTube recommendations; the bitrate table does not establish a special India-specific setting. For other resolutions or frame rates, consult YouTube’s current live encoder settings rather than extrapolating from the 1080p examples. A bitrate that is too high for the encoder’s outbound connection can cause buffering or dropped frames.
Check game footage, music, and stream policy
A game recording is not automatically cleared for every use just because it is gameplay. Check the relevant publisher’s terms for streaming, monetization, music, and any restrictions on cutscenes or other included material. The official YouTube guidance does not establish permission for a particular game or soundtrack.

All streams must follow YouTube’s Community Guidelines and Terms of Service. YouTube may remove or age-restrict a stream, or restrict live-streaming access. A continuous replay should also offer viewers a clear reason to watch; permission to use footage and compliance with platform rules are separate questions.
Costs and trade-offs to check
- Turnkey prerecorded-video service: You pay for the provider’s playout and streaming offer, but the official listings reviewed do not establish current India-specific availability or pricing. Confirm billing period, storage, resolution limits, stream-key handling, recovery behavior, and support before subscribing.
- Cloud gaming machine plus encoder: You manage the game environment, capture, encoding, and recovery. Costs depend on the selected machine and how long it runs; no India-specific configuration or total is established here.
- Google Cloud Live Stream API: Google bills by active channel time and configured resolution and codec, with input/output and distribution endpoint charges listed separately. It is an infrastructure option, not a directly comparable turnkey price for a basic YouTube retransmission. Use the official Live Stream API pricing page to calculate the chosen configuration and region rather than treating a listed rate as an India-specific total.
