After switching from a Pixel 6a to a Samsung Galaxy S24, How-To Geek writer Dibakar Ghosh says he missed three parts of the Pixel experience: offline voice typing, the feel and behavior of its haptics, and Now Playing’s automatic music recognition. He later returned to a Pixel 10. These are personal observations from one person’s device use, not controlled tests or a verdict on every Pixel and Galaxy model.
Which phones does this comparison cover?
Ghosh’s account, published September 23, 2026, describes moving from a Pixel 6a to a Galaxy S24 and later switching back to a Pixel 10. The three features below are the ones he says he missed while using the Galaxy. The comparison does not establish how they work across other models, software versions, settings, languages, or regions.

1. Offline voice typing for quick notes and messages
Ghosh says he used Gboard voice typing on his Pixel 6a to dictate messages, email, and notes while walking. In his experience with the Galaxy setup he tried, voice typing did not offer the same workflow, and transcription depended on a reliable internet connection.

That is a report of his own use, not a measured comparison of transcription accuracy or a claim that every Galaxy requires an internet connection for voice input. The account does not specify the settings or languages involved, so it cannot establish how the two phones compare under other configurations.

2. Pixel haptics and Adaptive Vibrations
Ghosh found the Pixel’s haptic feedback more natural-feeling than the Galaxy S24’s. He described the Galaxy’s vibration as noticeable but less naturally tuned. Haptic feel is subjective, and he emphasized that it is difficult to convey without holding the phone: “It’s honestly hard to explain, and one of those things you really need to feel in your hand to truly understand and appreciate.”
He also says he missed Adaptive Vibrations, which the article describes as adjusting vibration strength to the surroundings. That explanation reflects the feature as presented in Ghosh’s account; it does not verify availability on every Pixel or software version.

3. Now Playing identifies nearby music

What this says—and does not say—about switching phones
The account is most useful as a checklist of small, repeated interactions that mattered to one person: dictating without relying on connectivity, the tactile character of notifications and controls, and noticing music without interrupting what he was doing. It does not show that the Pixel is the better choice for every buyer, or that the Galaxy S24 lacks equivalent options in all configurations.
Because the comparison spans a Pixel 6a, Galaxy S24, and a later Pixel 10, readers considering a current phone should check the exact model and software version they plan to use. The published account does not establish current feature availability across newer devices, nor does it provide benchmark results, quantified accuracy tests, or a broader buying recommendation.
