This is the pattern in a September 17, 2026 forum thread on ElevenForum, where a Windows 11 Pro 25H2 user copied a user ID, pressed Ctrl+V, and got a clipboard popup instead of the text. A forum administrator pointed out that the popup normally appears only when Windows key+V has been pressed. The original poster later acknowledged they may have pressed that combination by accident and reported that Ctrl+V worked again.
How to paste correctly
- Copy the text with Ctrl+C, or copy the password manager entry as you normally would.
- Click the field where the text should go.
- Press Ctrl+V. The text should appear directly in the field, with no panel.
If the popup still shows up when you press Ctrl+V, check your keyboard for a stuck or held Windows key before changing any settings. That is a separate situation from the one described above, and the sources do not cover it.

If you want clipboard history turned off
Turning off clipboard history is optional. It removes the Windows key+V panel but does not change how copying and pasting work. To change it:
- Open Settings.
- Go to System, then select Clipboard.
- Find the Clipboard history control and switch it off.
Menu labels can shift between Windows versions, so if the wording differs on your machine, look for the control that refers to clipboard history within the Clipboard page. Clearing existing clipboard history is also available on the same page; clearing it removes stored items but does not fix a paste shortcut that was pressed by mistake.
