Jonah Nyirenda describes Global Chat as a real-time chat that needs no account, username, or profile. The project is available at global-chat.jojoban842.workers.dev, and its creator is inviting developers to try it and share feedback. Account-free access is not proof of anonymity from the service operator, Cloudflare, or network observers.
What Global Chat offers
In a DEV Community post, Nyirenda calls the project “There are no accounts, usernames, profiles, or complicated setup.” That is a description of the sign-up experience, not an independently verified privacy guarantee. The available project description does not establish what information the service logs, whether messages are retained, or how the chat is moderated.

The creator’s invitation is aimed at developers: try the service and report what breaks, what feels awkward, and what features could improve it. The live app has not been independently tested here, so its availability, behavior, and performance should be confirmed by visiting it directly.
How a Cloudflare chat can be structured
Cloudflare’s documented chat tutorial provides a relevant architecture example, but it does not confirm that Global Chat uses this design. In that pattern, each room maps to a Durable Object, which acts as the coordination point for its connected clients. Clients communicate over WebSockets, and a message can be broadcast to other connected users.
#1 Best Overall
- Live delivery: WebSockets provide a long-lived, two-way connection, avoiding repeated session setup for each exchange. The tutorial relays live messages directly rather than routing them through storage.
- Room coordination: A Durable Object coordinates the connections and state associated with a room. Cloudflare describes Durable Objects as a single point of coordination for Workers and a frequent companion to WebSockets.
- Chat history: The tutorial uses durable storage to keep history. That is a capability of the documented pattern, not evidence that Global Chat saves messages.
Separating live delivery from history persistence gives the architecture distinct paths for real-time traffic and stored records. Cloudflare documents that design, but it does not establish a measured latency benefit for this project.
Keeping idle WebSocket connections open
Cloudflare recommends the Durable Objects WebSocket hibernation API for applications with idle connections. With this approach, clients can remain connected on Cloudflare’s network while the Durable Object is evicted from memory; an incoming event wakes it. Cloudflare says duration charges do not accrue while an object is hibernating. Whether that reduces a particular app’s bill depends on its traffic, implementation, and plan.

Cloudflare limits and Workers pricing
Cloudflare’s Durable Objects limits page, last updated June 1, 2026, lists a 32 MiB maximum received WebSocket message size. For SQLite-backed Durable Objects, the documented storage limit is 1 GB per object on Workers Free and 10 GB per object on Workers Paid. These are platform limits, not known bottlenecks or observed storage levels for Global Chat.

Its documented Standard usage model includes 10 million requests and 30 million CPU milliseconds per month, with charges for usage beyond included allotments. Those figures describe Cloudflare’s plan, not the project’s consumption or actual bill.

What the project description does not establish
The available description does not say whether the project has a public source repository, how it organizes rooms, or whether it applies moderation or rate limits. It also does not establish message retention, end-to-end encryption, IP-address handling, log retention, or operating cost. Those details matter when evaluating privacy and safety, particularly for a service presented as anonymous.
Developers interested in the project can visit the live app and provide the feedback its creator requested. Anyone assessing it for sensitive conversations should first seek clear answers about data handling and safeguards; no account requirement alone can establish those protections.
