The available details do not establish how this particular app was built, how it casts a reading, which I Ching text it uses, or how its AI and data handling work. Rather than inventing a first-person account, this article explains the design choices a reader should be able to verify in a build log for a free I Ching divination web app with AI readings—and why they matter.
What a reading app needs to show
An I Ching reading commonly begins with a cast that forms a six-line hexagram. Depending on the casting method and result, some lines change; a reading may then show a resulting hexagram as well. A useful interface makes these stages visible rather than presenting an interpretation without showing what it interprets.

For example, the FAQ for The Original I Ching App describes casting three coins six times. That is one documented implementation, not evidence that this app uses the same method. A build log should name the method it actually implements and explain how each cast becomes a line.
Keep the text and AI interpretation distinct
A reader should be able to tell apart the classical text, the translation or paraphrase being displayed, and any AI-generated interpretation. Those are different kinds of content: the source text is not the AI’s answer, and an interpretation should not be presented as if it were a canonical translation.
#1 Best Overall
Other products illustrate different approaches, but do not establish this app’s choices. The Original I Ching App says its AI consultation interprets a formed result rather than presenting primary text. I Ching describes its hexagram texts as rewrites of James Legge prepared with AI assistance and reviewed. A build log for this project would need to identify its actual translation and edition, explain whether text is quoted, adapted, or newly written, and describe the AI’s role without implying that these examples apply here.
Readers who want to study the source beyond an app can consult a printed I Ching or Book of Changes translation or study edition. James Legge is one named translation tradition in the available examples; there is no basis to say it is the text used by this app.

What an AI reading does—and does not—establish
An AI interpreter can generate prose in response to a question and a cast. Changing Lines describes that kind of interpretation. Such a product description does not establish accuracy, authority, or a particular interpretive method. A responsible build log should say what information the AI receives and label its output as generated interpretation, not as the classical text or a definitive answer.

Whether a question or cast stays on a device, is sent to an AI service, or is stored elsewhere depends on the app’s own data flow. The I Ching page says question and cast history remain in the browser, but that is another product’s stated practice, not an audited privacy finding and not evidence about this project. Without a confirmed account of this app’s AI service, storage, and hosting, its privacy practices cannot be described.

What comparable projects can tell you
A separate GitHub project describes a progressive web app for I Ching reference and readings, with 64 hexagram entries and eight trigrams. It shows that reference content and casting can be combined in a web app, but does not establish this project’s architecture or feature set.
For this app specifically, the available information does not identify its casting method, translation, AI provider or prompt design, privacy approach, or hosting stack. Those details are essential to a genuine build log; examples from other apps cannot fill them in.
