Voidheart vs. Essence of the Void at a glance
| Material | Rarity and identifier | Item description | What it is for | Update 7 farming expectation |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Voidheart | EpicIngredient_Voidheart |
“The still-beating heart of a greater denizen of the Void.” | Required for hunts on the far side of a Goblin Breach and listed in advanced recipes such as Backpack Upgrade II and Mithril weapons. | Void enemies drop it less frequently than before Update 7. No official percentage rate is published. |
| Essence of the Void | UncommonIngredient_Void_Essence |
“It’s unclear whether creatures of the Void produce this essence, or if its presence is required to sustain their existence.” | A broad crafting ingredient. The community database lists 17 recipes, including Mithril armor pieces. | Most Void enemies typically drop more than before Update 7. Larvae drop none. |
The rarity labels, identifiers and quoted descriptions come from the Hytale Guide Wiki. Its recipe lists are community-maintained and can change during Early Access, so treat them as planning information rather than a guarantee of the recipes in your current client.
How to get Voidhearts now
Update 7 did not make Voidhearts a general nighttime resource in the Echo of Orbis. Build your route around the Chapter I and Goblin Breach progression instead.

- Graphics Card: Features GeForce RTX 3050 graphics card with 6GB dedicated video memory for gaming and multimedia applications
- Memory configuration: Equipped with 32GB DDR4 RAM (16GB * 2), providing sufficient memory capacity for multitasking and demanding applications
- Gaming Performance: Designed to handle modern gaming titles and graphics-intensive tasks with smooth frame rates and visual quality
- Desktop System: Complete gaming desktop computer system ready for setup and use out of the box
- Advance Chapter I until Goblin Breach hunts are available. The official Chapter I material identifies these hunts as a direct use of Voidheart, so a character still outside that progression should not expect ordinary exploration to replace it.
- Open the world map and look for the hunt-site icon. Official guidance says hunt sites have a map icon. Use that marker to choose an active objective rather than searching randomly for an old Echo-of-Orbis nighttime spawn.
- Approach the breach and check the objective before spending the item. Hunts on the far side of a Goblin Breach require a Voidheart. The requirement makes the heart a progression resource, not merely a material to sell or discard.
- Enter the hunt area and defeat the Void enemies there. Collect every drop separately. A run can produce Essence of the Void without producing a Voidheart, and that result is consistent with the current drop balancing.
- Repeat marked hunts and other current Void encounters. Update 7 gives no official fixed chance, daily guarantee or pity counter. Measure a route by completed encounters and useful materials rather than promising yourself one heart per run.
The official notes describe a lower Voidheart frequency but do not publish a percentage. Any guide quoting a precise universal rate is using an unverified estimate, a particular build, or an older version.
Where Void creatures spawn after Update 7
The reliable change is negative but important: ordinary Void creatures no longer appear in the Echo of Orbis at night. Advice that tells you to sleep until night and patrol that area is outdated for Update 7.

Outbyte Driver Updater FREEScan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Update 7 changed the encounter geography, but the cited official notes do not provide a complete replacement list of every biome, coordinate or enemy table. Do not infer a universal spawn map from a single player’s route. For a supported objective, follow Chapter I’s Goblin Breach progression and use the map icon attached to the hunt site.
What the map icon means for farming
- It identifies a hunt site connected to the current progression rather than an arbitrary nighttime spawn.
- The site is on the far side of a Goblin Breach, where the Voidheart requirement applies.
- It gives you a repeatable navigation target even though Update 7’s notes do not enumerate every ordinary Void encounter location.
What not to rely on
- Do not use an old Echo of Orbis night-farming loop as your primary plan.
- Do not assume a high Essence yield proves that the route has a high Heart yield.
- Do not treat a community database’s recipe or encounter wording as a substitute for the current in-game objective text.
Why Essence drops but Voidheart does not
They are separate item types with separate balancing. The Hytale Team’s Update 7 notes say most Void enemies typically drop more Void Essence while Voidhearts are less frequent. The two changes move in opposite directions, so a run can feel unusually productive while still giving you no heart.

Three normal explanations
- You are fighting an Essence-rich encounter. More Essence is now the expected direction for most Void enemies, not evidence that a Heart roll was missed.
- The Heart roll did not occur. The official notes establish reduced frequency but do not state the chance or guarantee a drop after a certain number of kills.
- You are fighting Larvae. Update 7 specifically says Larvae drop nothing of Essence. That statement does not establish a Voidheart drop rate for Larvae, so do not use Larvae farming as an assumed Heart strategy.
Check the item names in your inventory after each encounter. “Essence of the Void” cannot be substituted for “Voidheart” when a hunt asks for the latter.
What Voidheart is used for
Goblin Breach hunts
The clearest current use is progression: the official Chapter I article says hunts on the far side of a Goblin Breach require a Voidheart. Because these hunt sites carry a map icon, keep at least the number of hearts needed for the next marked objective instead of converting every heart into a recipe immediately.
Advanced crafting
The Hytale Guide Wiki lists Voidheart in advanced recipes, including Backpack Upgrade II and Mithril weapons. Those entries are useful for deciding whether to save a surplus, but the wiki labels its recipe information as database content that can become stale during Early Access. Open the recipe in your current client before committing a heart.
What it is not
- It is not another name for Essence of the Void.
- It is not confirmed as a guaranteed reward from every Goblin Breach hunt.
- It is not supported by an official published percentage drop table in the Update 7 notes.
What Essence of the Void is used for
Essence of the Void is the more broadly used ingredient. The Hytale Guide Wiki identifies it as Uncommon, gives the identifier Ingredient_Void_Essence, and lists 17 crafting recipes, including Mithril armor pieces. The quoted in-game description deliberately leaves its origin uncertain, so the item should be understood by its recipe role rather than by an assumed lore explanation.

Plan around recipes, not a fixed conversion
There is no evidence that Essence can be converted into Voidhearts, or that a surplus of Essence increases a Heart chance. If your goal is a Mithril armor piece, reserve the Essence shown by the live recipe. If your goal is a breach hunt or a Voidheart recipe, continue hunting for hearts independently.
Verify the live recipe
- Open the relevant crafting station or recipe interface in your current client.
- Search for the item you intend to make.
- Record the displayed Essence requirement and any additional ingredients.
- Craft only after checking that the recipe belongs to the current Early Access build.
The figure of 17 recipes is a snapshot of the community database, not a permanent game rule. Individual recipes and counts may change without changing the material’s identifier.

Use the following plan when you need both materials but cannot afford to waste Voidhearts.
Stage 1: establish the objective
- If the map shows a Goblin Breach hunt, treat the Heart requirement as the immediate constraint.
- If you are gathering for armor or another recipe, note the Essence requirement separately.
- Do not combine the two goals into one expected drop rate.
Stage 2: choose the supported route
Prioritize the marked hunt site connected to Chapter I progression. This route directly addresses the Heart gate and avoids the obsolete Echo-of-Orbis-at-night assumption. Where you have a choice of Void encounters, compare them by the enemy type, danger, travel time, and the material you actually need; the official notes do not provide a universal Heart percentage for ranking them.

Stage 3: record results consistently
After each completed encounter, note the number of Voidhearts and Essence separately. A simple log prevents a large Essence total from masking a poor Heart return. Because the official material uses “less frequently” and “typically more” rather than a numeric table, your own results describe your build and route, not a guaranteed rate for every player.

- Keep the Heart required for the next marked Goblin Breach hunt.
- Reserve additional Hearts for a live recipe you can craft immediately.
- Spend Essence on the recipe that advances your current equipment plan, checking its displayed ingredients first.
- Reassess after an update, because Early Access recipes and encounter balance can change.
Common mistakes and fixes
| Symptom | Likely mistake | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| You search the Echo of Orbis at night and find no ordinary Void creatures. | Using pre-Update 7 advice. | Stop treating that patrol as the standard route. Follow Chapter I/Goblin Breach progression and the hunt-site map icon. |
| Your inventory fills with Essence but no Voidheart. | Assuming the materials share one drop roll. | Keep them separate; Update 7 increased typical Essence drops while reducing Heart frequency. |
| A recipe guide asks for an item your interface does not show. | Relying on a version-sensitive community entry. | Search the current in-game recipe and use its displayed ingredients as authoritative for your build. |
| You spend a Heart and cannot start the marked hunt. | Confusing a different Void material with the required Heart, or using the wrong objective. | Confirm the item name is Ingredient_Voidheart and reread the hunt objective at the marked site. |
| You farm Larvae expecting Essence. | Ignoring the Update 7 exception. | Change targets: the notes state that Larvae drop no Essence. |
| A guide promises one Heart after a fixed number of kills. | Treating an unofficial estimate as a published rule. | There is no authoritative percentage or guaranteed kill count in the cited official notes. |
How to decide whether a route is worthwhile
Use five checks before committing time to a route:
- Current location: Is it a post-Update 7 encounter, or merely an old Echo of Orbis nighttime recommendation?
- Progression value: Does it move you toward a marked Goblin Breach hunt that needs a Heart?
- Material fit: Are you short on Hearts, Essence, or both?
- Enemy exception: Are you fighting Larvae, which provide no Essence, or another Void enemy?
- Evidence quality: Is the claim from official Hytale Update 7 or Chapter I information, or from a community database that may be version-sensitive?
This framework prevents the most common optimization error: selecting a route because its Essence yield looks impressive when the actual bottleneck is the less-frequent Voidheart.
What is confirmed, and what remains unknown
Confirmed for Update 7
- Ordinary Void creatures no longer appear at night in the Echo of Orbis.
- Most Void enemies typically drop more Essence of the Void.
- Larvae drop no Essence.
- Voidhearts are dropped less frequently.
- Goblin Breach hunt sites have a map icon, and hunts on the far side require a Voidheart.
Not published in the cited official material
- A universal percentage chance for a Voidheart.
- A guaranteed Heart after a set number of kills.
- A complete replacement list of every Void-creature spawn location.
- A permanent, authoritative recipe count for Early Access.
When a number or location is not published, treat player logs and community databases as observations for a particular version, not promises that apply to every world.
Bottom line for your next run
Follow the marked Goblin Breach hunt path for Voidheart progression, and stop using nighttime Echo of Orbis patrols as your default method. Expect Essence of the Void to accumulate faster than Hearts after Update 7, keep the materials in separate stockpiles, and verify every advanced recipe in the current client before spending an Epic Heart.
