To download a video from Hudl’s Classic Library, a coach or team administrator opens Library > Manage, selects the video, chooses Download and a file type, then retrieves the file using Hudl’s emailed link. Athletes cannot use this documented Classic Library download workflow; they should ask their coach. A finished premium highlight is different: Hudl says its MP4 file must be purchased.
Download a video from Hudl Classic Library
These steps apply to video in Hudl Classic Library and are documented for Mac and PC. Hudl’s support article says that only team administrators and coaches can download video through this workflow; an athlete should ask the head coach to download it.

- Sign in to Hudl.com, hover over Library, and choose Manage.
- Select a video. Hudl says you can select up to 100 videos at a time; to select multiple playlists, use Shift-click.
- Choose Download.
- Select a file type, then click Download. If needed, choose the option to include breakdown data.
- Wait for Hudl’s email, then open its download link.
- Save the file on your computer. On a Mac, save it to your preferred location in Finder. On a PC, open the ZIP file in your My Downloads folder, choose Extract or Extract All, and move the video where you want to keep it.

If you want to download a finished highlight
A finished premium highlight is not the same as a Library video. Hudl says you need to purchase a highlight to obtain it in MP4 format. Its highlight guidance also says that clips must be sent to highlights before a reel can be created.

If the star or highlight option is unavailable, check how the playlist was uploaded. Hudl says a playlist uploaded as practice or scout film may need to be downloaded and re-uploaded as game film in Hudl Classic before that option appears. Hudl also says users cannot upload their own music to highlights because of copyright laws. See Hudl’s premium highlights instructions.
Share a clip without saving a local file
If your goal is to show a clip rather than keep a video file, sharing through Hudl may be enough. Hudl’s athlete guide describes sharing highlight reels outside the platform using embed links, and its game and practice film guide describes downloading selected clips to create shareable links and publishing highlights to a team page.

Fix common download problems
The Download button is missing
First check your account role. The Classic Library instructions limit this download workflow to team administrators and coaches. If you are an athlete, ask your head coach to download the film rather than trying to bypass the restriction.

You need to keep the video
After downloading, save the video somewhere you control, such as your computer or an external hard drive. Hudl also says the raw video download link can be forwarded to someone outside Hudl.
Check permissions before exporting or sharing
Available downloads and permitted uses depend on your role and the content. Hudl’s terms distinguish user-created highlights from the underlying game film, which remains the customer’s content; they also state that athletes may not export a customer’s full game recording. Follow your team’s permissions and Hudl’s current terms, and do not use third-party tools to extract a stream or get around download controls. Review Hudl’s terms if you are unsure what you may save or share.
