Display: PaperMatte and brightness claims
Huawei’s global page specifies a 12-inch OLED PaperMatte display with 2800 × 1840 resolution, 275 PPI, 1.07 billion colors and P3 wide color gamut. Its stated peak of 1200 nits applies under strong lighting when the battery is above 20%, rather than describing brightness in every use condition.

Xinhua’s report on the 2026-09-07 launch distinguishes a standard OLED panel, rated up to 1200 nits, from a PaperMatte version rated up to 2000 nits; it also reports a 144 Hz refresh rate. These are launch-report figures, not values listed in the retrieved global specification text. Confirm which screen variant and refresh-rate specification apply to the local model before comparing or buying: Xinhua’s launch report.
Battery, charging and physical dimensions
For the global listing, Huawei gives the battery as 10,100 mAh typical capacity and 10,000 mAh rated capacity, with maximum 66 W charging. The tablet measures 271.6 × 182.9 × 5.3 mm and weighs approximately 509 g including its battery. Xinhua’s launch report also describes 509 g, 5.3 mm and 66 W charging.

These are stated specifications, not independent battery-life or charging test results. The available specifications do not establish how long the tablet lasts in a particular workload or how quickly it charges in real-world conditions.

The global page lists a 50 MP f/1.8 autofocus rear camera with LED flash and a 12 MP f/2.4 fixed-focus front camera. Both cameras are specified for video recording up to 1080p.

Wireless and wired connections
Huawei lists 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 6.0, NearLink, Wi-Fi network positioning and OTG. The USB-C connection is listed as USB 3.1 Gen 1, but Huawei says that speed requires a compatible cable; the standard data cable supports USB 2.0.
Speakers, microphones and sensors
The global specifications list six speakers, two microphones, and gravity, Hall, gyroscope and ambient-light sensors.

What is included in the box?
Do not assume the stylus, keyboard, case or charger is included. Huawei lists the M-Pencil Pro, Smart Magnetic Keyboard, transparent protective case and 66 W charger as optional items on its global page. Xinhua reported that the M-Pencil Pro was sold separately in the launch context it covered. Package contents can vary by market, so check the local seller’s exact bundle before purchase.
How to identify the configuration being sold
- Check the full model name and market. Look for whether the listing is the global MatePad Air or the China-market MatePad Air 12-inch (third generation), and note if it says Joy Edition.
- Match the software and storage to the page. HarmonyOS 4.3 with 256 GB matches Huawei’s global specification listing; HarmonyOS 6.1 and 256 GB or 512 GB appear on the China third-generation page.
- Verify processor details rather than inferring them. Kirin T93B / T93C are listed for China configurations; Huawei’s global page does not identify a processor.
- Confirm screen version, accessories, warranty and price locally. Brightness claims differ by panel description in the launch report, and bundle contents and availability depend on the market. The reviewed listings do not establish a universal retail price or complete global release schedule.
This 2026 model should not be confused with older MatePad Air tablets or the earlier 11.5-inch MatePad Air PaperMatte Edition; their sizes, screens and software differ.
