HP has announced two laptops built around Intel Core Series 3 processors, formerly known by the codename Wildcat Lake: the consumer HP OmniBook 5 14 AI PC and the business-focused HP ProBook 4 G2iS 14 AI PC. The OmniBook 5 is expected to start at $699.99 in October 2026; the ProBook is expected in November, with pricing still unannounced.
What is HP Wildcat Lake?
Wildcat Lake is the former codename for Intel’s Core Series 3 mobile processor family. Intel lists seven mobile parts on its ARK page: Core 7 360 and 350; Core 5 330, 320 and 315; and Core 3 305 and 304. Intel describes the family as bringing NPU-based AI acceleration, Thunderbolt 4, Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6 to mainstream thin-and-light laptops, and says more than 70 designs from major PC makers are expected.
HP’s two announced models use the family for different audiences. OmniBook 5 is the everyday consumer option; ProBook 4 G2iS is aimed at growing businesses and mobile professionals. The Intel feature list describes the processor family, not a guarantee that every individual laptop configuration includes every capability.
HP OmniBook 5 14 AI PC: consumer features and price
HP positions the 14-inch OmniBook 5 for students, young professionals and everyday multitaskers. HP says it will offer configurations up to an Intel Core 7 processor with integrated NPU capabilities, and claims up to 42 hours of local video playback. That endurance figure is a manufacturer claim for video playback, not a promise of typical runtime during mixed work or study use.

HP says the laptop is 11.77 mm thick and weighs 1.16 kg. Display options include OLED, with the launch configuration expected to offer a 1920 × 1200 touch or non-touch panel. A higher-resolution 2560 × 1600 OLED touch panel rated at up to 620 nits is planned for March 2027; that brightness figure applies to the planned panel, not necessarily every OmniBook 5.
Other announced features include an FHD IR camera, dual microphones and Poly Studio-tuned audio. Four colors are listed: Smoke Silver, Starlit Blue, Peony Pink and Soft Honeydew.
Contemporaneous reporting describes planned processor options of Intel Core 5 320 or Core 7 350, 8GB, 12GB or 16GB of LPDDR5-6400 memory, and 256GB, 512GB or 1TB PCIe Gen4 storage. The 12GB memory and 1TB storage options were planned for November 2026. That reporting also identifies a 60Wh battery, a 65W USB-C GaN charger, a 1080p IR webcam and a 2.56-pound weight. HP’s announcement gives the lighter metric equivalent of 1.16 kg; actual configuration details and availability may vary.

HP ProBook 4 G2iS 14 AI PC: business features and timing
HP describes the ProBook 4 G2iS as its thinnest business notebook, measuring 12 mm and starting at 2.6 lb. It is planned with a 14-inch 2.8K OLED display, 100% DCI-P3 color coverage and 120Hz motion. HP lists configurations up to Intel Core 7, up to 17 TOPS of NPU acceleration, up to 32GB of memory and up to 1TB of storage.
The ProBook’s listed battery capacity is 70Wh, with HP Fast Charge, and HP says it has MIL-STD durability. The announcement does not give a video-playback or mixed-use runtime figure, charging time, specific durability test results, or the precise Core 7 processor model. Its display resolution and refresh rate differ from the OmniBook’s stated launch-panel details, so compare the configuration actually offered rather than assuming every spec applies to every unit.

Which model makes more sense?
Choose the OmniBook 5 if price and general use are priorities
The OmniBook is the clearer fit for students and personal users who want a lightweight 14-inch OLED laptop and a published entry price. HP’s unusually high video-playback claim is worth treating as a specific manufacturer test claim rather than a forecast for a full day of classes or work. Check the exact memory, storage and screen option before buying, especially if you need one of the later-planned configurations.
Consider the ProBook 4 for business needs
The ProBook is aimed at business users and offers a higher stated memory ceiling, a 2.8K 120Hz OLED screen, a 70Wh battery and HP’s MIL-STD durability claim. Its price, detailed configuration availability and warranty terms had not been announced, so businesses should wait for the final listing and verify deployment and support requirements against that specific offer.
Quick Recap
What the announcement does not establish
- No independent benchmarks or hands-on review results are available in the launch information; real-world speed, battery life and thermals remain unverified.
- HP’s 42-hour OmniBook figure is for local video playback, and the announcement does not specify a full test protocol or establish comparable ProBook runtime.
- The 620-nit figure belongs to the planned 2560 × 1600 OmniBook panel scheduled for March 2027, not all launch configurations.
- ProBook pricing, specific processor SKU, full port and wireless configuration, warranty coverage and detailed MIL-STD test results were not stated.
- Intel’s family-level connectivity claims do not by themselves confirm that every listed feature appears in every HP configuration.
