For a Miracast-compatible TV, projector, or monitor, turn on its wireless-display mode, then press Windows key + K on your PC and select the display. Press Windows key + P afterward to choose whether to duplicate your screen, extend your desktop, or use only one display. The receiving device and the PC both need compatible wireless-display support.
Connect a Windows PC to a TV, projector, or monitor
- Turn on the display and enable its wireless display or Miracast mode. If you are using a wireless display adapter, plug it into the display first.
- On the Windows PC, press Windows key + K to open the Connect panel.
- Select the display from the list of available devices and follow any prompts on the PC or display.
Microsoft’s screen mirroring and projection instructions specify a display that supports Miracast. The PC must support it too, and Wi-Fi should be on. If the display does not support Miracast, a compatible HDMI Miracast adapter can provide a wireless-display connection; check that the adapter works with both your PC and display. Microsoft’s Wireless Display Adapter instructions describe connecting its adapter to HDMI and supplying power over USB.

Use another Windows PC as the receiving display
Set up the receiving computer before connecting from the PC whose screen you want to show. Windows 11’s Wireless Display app is available for version 22H2 and later; for earlier versions, Microsoft directs users to the Connect app.

- On the receiving PC, open Settings > System > Projecting to this PC.
- If prompted, add the Wireless Display optional feature.
- Open the Wireless Display app and check its projection preferences so the PC can receive a connection.
- On the sending PC, press Windows key + K and select the receiving PC.
Microsoft’s instructions for Windows 10 use the Wireless Display optional feature and Connect app as the receiver. Windows 10 support ended on October 14, 2025; Microsoft says it no longer provides free Windows Update software updates, technical assistance, or security fixes for Windows 10 after that date.

Connect through a WiGig dock
WiGig is a separate option from Miracast and works only with compatible hardware. Turn on the display and dock, connect the dock to the display, and make sure WiGig is enabled on the PC. Then press Windows key + K and select the dock. If your devices do not support WiGig, use another compatible connection method instead.
Choose what appears on the second screen
Once connected, press Windows key + P and choose a display mode:

- Duplicate: Show the same image on both screens.
- Extend: Use the displays as a larger desktop and move windows between them.
- PC screen only: Use the computer’s display alone.
- Second screen only: Use the external display alone.
Fix a missing display or failed connection
Check the connection in this order. Compatibility and discovery vary with the hardware, settings, drivers, and firmware involved.

- Check the PC and Wi-Fi. Confirm the sending PC supports Miracast and that Wi-Fi is on.
- Check the receiver. Make sure the TV or monitor supports Miracast and that its wireless-display mode is enabled. If it does not support Miracast, consider a compatible HDMI Miracast adapter.
- Prepare a receiving PC. Install the Wireless Display optional feature if needed, launch the receiver app, and check discoverability under Settings > System > Projecting to this PC.
- Update supporting software. Use the relevant manufacturer’s support guidance to update device drivers and wireless-display or adapter firmware.
- Restart and reconnect. Restart the PC and wireless display. If the connection still fails, remove the saved device under Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Devices > Wireless displays & docks, then try connecting again.
