What decides whether you can watch a match is who holds the broadcast rights for that competition in your country. Find the official broadcaster for the exact match, then use its app on a smart TV, streaming device or phone, or its website on a computer. This guide shows how to do that, and what to do when your TV doesn’t support the app you need.
Step one: identify the broadcaster for your match and country
Soccer rights are sold by competition and by territory. A service that carries one league or tournament may not carry another, and a service that carries a competition in one country may not carry it in yours. Before you install or pay for anything, work out which competition the match belongs to and who shows it where you live.

- Use the competition’s own listings. UEFA publishes broadcast partners by country for the 2026/27 Champions League, which makes it a reliable starting point for that tournament.
- Use the service’s own pages. Apple’s 2026 MLS page explains that MLS is available through Apple TV. Amazon’s 2026 Fire TV guide describes a World Cup 2026 destination for live matches, highlights and replays in the U.S.
- Check the specific match. Confirm that the fixture you want appears in the service’s listing, not just that the competition is mentioned.
Step two: match the broadcaster to your device
Once you know the broadcaster, use its official app or website. Support differs by service, so check the service’s own device list before subscribing.

The “no blackouts” statement is Apple’s claim about its own MLS coverage. Don’t assume it applies to other competitions or services.

Watching on a smart TV
- Find the official broadcaster for the match in your country.
- Search your TV’s app store for that broadcaster’s official app and check its supported-device list.
- Sign in or subscribe through the broadcaster’s official flow, then open the live match from its schedule or live section.
- If the app isn’t available on your TV, move to a streaming device or a casting route (see below).
Watching on a phone
Install the broadcaster’s official app and confirm that it carries your match in your location. Apple lists iPhone and eligible Android devices for MLS, and ESPN support lists mobile devices for its streaming. Check the service’s listing for regional restrictions before the match starts, not at kickoff.
Watching on a computer
Open the broadcaster’s official website in a supported browser. Apple lists tv.apple.com for MLS, and ESPN lists ESPN.com for streaming. Find the match listing and confirm local availability. A computer can also act as a source for the TV: HBO Max documents HDMI as a playback route for select U.S. live sports.

Add a streaming device
Amazon presents Fire TV as a way to find live World Cup 2026 content in the U.S., and Apple lists Fire TV devices among the platforms for its app. A device only helps if the service you need has an app for it, so check that before buying. A device doesn’t guarantee access to every match or service.

What to compare before you pay
- Coverage: does the service show this competition and this match?
- Region: is it the rights holder in your country?
- Device support: is your TV, phone or browser on the supported list?
- Price and plan: prices and plan inclusions change, so read them on the service’s own page. This guide doesn’t compare prices across services.
- Restrictions: check for blackouts or other viewing limits for your location.
Rights, prices and device lists change often. The examples here come from official pages checked in October 2026, so confirm current details on the competition and service pages.
