You can watch some award shows without a cable subscription through a local over-the-air station, a streaming service, or a live-TV streaming bundle—but the right option depends on the specific show, year, country, and service tier. In the U.S., the 2027 Grammys are scheduled for ABC, Disney+, and Hulu; the 2027 Oscars are scheduled for ABC and Hulu; and the Emmys move to Prime Video in 2027, where the Television Academy says the ceremony will be free to view worldwide. Check the event’s official viewing page near showtime, because rights and access can change.
First, check the show, year, and country
A platform that carries one ceremony may not carry another, and a show’s streaming rights can change from year to year. Start with the ceremony’s official viewing page, then confirm that the listed service is available in your country and offers the kind of access you need: live, next-day on demand, or a local broadcast.

The confirmed arrangements below are specific to the listed years. They are not a promise that the same platforms will carry future ceremonies.

2027 Grammys: ABC, Disney+, and Hulu
The Recording Academy says the 2027 Grammy Awards will be simulcast live on ABC, Disney+, and Hulu. That is a change from the 2026 ceremony, which aired on CBS. For that 2026 show, the Academy said U.S. Paramount+ Premium subscribers could stream live through the service’s local CBS affiliate feed; Paramount+ Essential subscribers could watch on demand the following day. Those details apply to the 2026 ceremony, not the 2027 show. See the Recording Academy’s 2027 announcement and its 2026 viewing guide.

2027 Oscars: ABC and Hulu
The 99th Oscars are scheduled for March 14, 2027, at 7 p.m. ET/4 p.m. PT, live on ABC and Hulu, according to the Academy’s announcement. For the 2026 ceremony, the Academy also listed free local ABC over-the-air reception, Hulu live streaming, and authenticated viewing at ABC.com and in the ABC app. ABC.com and the app required TV-provider authentication, so they are not a general free-streaming substitute. The 2026 guide also listed live-TV services; see the Academy’s Oscars viewing page for its event-specific details.
Emmys from 2027: Prime Video
The Television Academy announced on October 6, 2026, that Prime Video will become the exclusive global home of the Emmy Awards beginning in 2027 under a six-year agreement. The Academy says the ceremony will be free to view worldwide. Check the Television Academy announcement for updates as the next ceremony approaches.

Ways to watch without a cable subscription
Use a local over-the-air station
In the U.S., a TV antenna may receive a local broadcaster carrying a ceremony. The Academy specifically listed free over-the-air viewing on local ABC for the 2026 Oscars; that does not mean every awards show is free on broadcast. Reception depends on your location and nearby stations. Check local station availability before buying an indoor HDTV antenna, and confirm that the event’s broadcaster is the station you can receive.
Subscribe to the event’s streaming service
A direct streaming service can be the simplest route when it has the live rights, but check the exact plan and access window. The 2026 Grammys illustrate why: the Recording Academy specified live local-CBS-feed access for Paramount+ Premium, while Essential offered next-day on-demand viewing. For 2027, the announced Grammy outlets are ABC, Disney+, and Hulu instead.

Choose a live-TV streaming bundle
Live-TV bundles can provide a cable-like channel lineup over the internet, including local broadcast affiliates in some areas. For the 2026 Oscars, the Academy listed Hulu + Live TV, YouTube TV, AT&T TV, and Fubo among the streaming options, while warning that provider availability could vary by ZIP code. Hulu’s Hulu + Live TV page describes local-channel access including ABC, CBS, FOX, and NBC, but availability depends on location and the current lineup. Check your ZIP code and the service’s channel list for the affiliate carrying your show.
Check international listings
U.S. streaming rights do not establish availability elsewhere. The Academy said the 2026 Oscars broadcast reached more than 200 territories and directed viewers outside the United States to local listings. For each ceremony, use the organizer’s territory-specific information rather than assuming a U.S. app or channel will work internationally.

How to choose the right route
- Identify the ceremony and year. Find the show’s official page and confirm its current broadcaster or streaming partner.
- Check the type of access. Verify whether the service carries the full ceremony live, offers it later on demand, or only provides red-carpet coverage and clips.
- Confirm local channel availability. If you plan to use an antenna or live-TV bundle, check whether the relevant local affiliate is receivable or included at your address.
- Compare total cost and requirements. Check current subscription prices, plan tiers, equipment needs, and any provider authentication before committing. Prices and offers change; no single bundle is established here as the cheapest option.
Why older viewing guides can mislead
Awards-show distribution deals are changing. The Grammys move from CBS in 2026 to an announced ABC, Disney+, and Hulu simulcast in 2027. The Emmys’ broadcast-network rotation ends with the 2026 telecast, with Prime Video taking exclusive global rights from 2027. The Oscars remain with Disney ABC domestically through the 100th ceremony in 2028; the Academy says YouTube’s exclusive global rights begin with the 101st Oscars in 2029 and continue through 2033. The Academy’s announcement says the 2029 show will be live and free on YouTube worldwide, and available to YouTube TV subscribers in the U.S. See the Academy’s YouTube rights announcement.
