How to Watch Formula 1 Live While Traveling Abroad

F1 TV access abroad depends on your home territory, plan and destination. Check portability terms and the official broadcaster directory before race day.

You may be able to watch live Formula 1 abroad with your existing subscription, but there is no universal “works everywhere” rule. F1 TV access depends on your home territory, plan and destination; when it does not carry your live coverage abroad, check the licensed broadcaster for the country you are visiting.

Check these three things before you travel

  1. Your plan: F1 TV Pro offers live F1 in selected countries, and F1 TV content varies by territory. An F1 TV account—or an Access plan—does not by itself establish that you can watch races live. Review F1 TV’s subscription options for your market.
  2. Your destination: Find the country in Formula 1’s official broadcaster directory. Check the named provider’s current plan, session coverage, language and device requirements; rights and local packaging can change.
  3. Your subscription’s travel terms: F1 TV defines the “Home Territory” as the country of habitual residence verified when you subscribe. Its subscription terms explain which content can travel with you.

Will your F1 TV subscription work in another country?

It depends on the Home Territory and the destination. Under F1 TV’s terms, subscribers whose Home Territory is an EU member state or another country covered by the relevant EU portability regulation may access the content available at home across portability territories. This is a defined portability arrangement, not a worldwide guarantee.

Outside those portability territories, access is subject to territorial rights restrictions in the country where you try to watch. If your usual plan does not provide live coverage there, use the local rights holder listed in F1’s broadcaster directory. The terms also prohibit using technology or tools to alter, mask or disguise your access location or circumvent restrictions.

Which service carries F1 in your destination?

Formula 1’s announcements offer examples of how live rights differ by country. These are not a complete list, and the current directory is the place to check your actual destination.

The announced agreements run through the 2034 season for the UK and Ireland and through 2032 for Italy. UK highlights and the British Grand Prix remain free-to-air; in Italy, TV8 carries the Italian Grand Prix live. Read Formula 1’s announcement.
  • Spain, Andorra and Portugal: A September 2026 announcement said DAZN would continue live and on-demand coverage of every practice, qualifying session, Sprint and Grand Prix through the 2030 season. Read Formula 1’s announcement.
  • Japan: Formula 1 announced that Fuji TV would exclusively broadcast F1 in Japan from 2026 through 2030, on broadcast and digital services including Fuji TV Next Live Premium, Nextsmart and FOD. The announcement also described F1 TV Pro and Premium as available in Japan. Read Formula 1’s announcement.
  • India and nearby markets: Formula 1 announced FanCode’s exclusive Indian coverage through 2028 and said F1 TV Pro and Premium would be sold directly via FanCode in India. It also described FanCode coverage in Bangladesh, Nepal and Sri Lanka. Check the directory and local plan details for the country you are visiting. Read Formula 1’s announcement.
  • United States: Formula 1’s 2026 Monaco article identifies Apple as the new official U.S. broadcaster and says F1 TV is included with an Apple TV subscription. The same article describes F1 TV Pro and Premium as available only in selected locations, so check current U.S. packaging and travel access before relying on it. Read Formula 1’s article.

How to prepare for race day

  1. Confirm the session and start time. Check the provider’s schedule for the practice, qualifying, Sprint or Grand Prix you want to watch, and convert the start time to your local time.
  2. Verify the service before leaving. Check the destination listing and provider’s current subscription terms, including whether live sessions are included, which commentary languages are offered and whether a new local subscription is needed.
  3. Test your device and connection. F1 TV lists web, iOS, Android, Amazon Fire, Roku and Chromecast among its supported options. Confirm the provider supports the device you will use and that you can sign in. Device compatibility does not grant viewing rights.
  4. Use a hotel television only if useful. An Amazon Fire TV Stick may be one option for viewing on a compatible TV, but it does not provide a subscription or change territorial access. If your phone, tablet or laptop already works, extra hardware may be unnecessary.

What to compare if more than one service is available

Before paying for a local option, compare what matters for the race you want to watch. F1’s subscription and broadcaster pages are dynamic, and prices and contract terms vary by market, so check the local provider rather than relying on a price from another country.

  • Whether the service has live rights in the destination country.
  • Whether your home subscription remains portable there.
  • Coverage of practice, qualifying, Sprint and Grand Prix sessions.
  • Commentary language and supported devices.
  • Local price, contract length and cancellation terms.

Why you should not assume a VPN solves it

F1’s terms prohibit using tools to mask or disguise your location or circumvent access restrictions. A VPN is not a guaranteed or terms-compliant way to make a home service available abroad. Check portability rules or use the destination’s licensed broadcaster instead.
