To verify the YouTube stream key and server URL in OBS, copy both from the intended stream in YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room, enter them in OBS, start streaming, and confirm that YouTube receives the feed in its preview. OBS showing that it is connected is not the final check: for a scheduled event, wait for the YouTube preview before selecting Go live.
The workflow is the same for Indian creators; YouTube’s published instructions do not establish a separate India-specific URL or key format. The exact labels in OBS can vary by version, so use its YouTube preset if available or configure the server and key fields without relying on an assumed menu path.

Before checking OBS, make sure the channel can go live
YouTube Help says a channel must be verified and must not have had live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days. First-time activation can take up to 24 hours. These account conditions apply regardless of whether you are streaming from India; check the notices and eligibility shown for your own channel in YouTube Studio. Find the correct YouTube stream URL and key
- In YouTube Studio, choose Create > Go Live.
- Open the Stream tab and create a new stream or open the planned event.
- Copy the stream URL and stream key displayed for that stream. Use the values for the event you intend to broadcast, not an endpoint copied from an unrelated tutorial or an old note.
YouTube may load prior stream settings if you have streamed before. Reusing those settings can also reuse metadata, settings, and the key, so do not assume every event has a unique key. YouTube describes stream keys as “like your YouTube stream’s password and address.” Treat the key as a credential and do not post or share it publicly. YouTube Help: Manage live stream settings.

- Compact but Powerful Design: ZowieBox is smaller than a phone, featuring a tally light and LCD screen for streaming status. Capture console gameplay in up to 4K with zero-lag HDMI passthrough, while the built-in video encoder converts video for IP streaming. The IP stream can also be decoded back to a 4K HDMI signal.
- Standalone Game Streaming: Just plug and play—ZowieBox enables PC-free live gaming without affecting gameplay. As an RTMP hardware encoder and HDMI streamer, it delivers stable streaming directly from your source, making it ideal for gaming, live events, and professional broadcasting.
- NDI|HX3 Converter Technology: ZowieBox converts HDMI signals to NDI|HX3/HX2/HX, functioning as an NDI video encoder, or NDI Video Decoder for flexible IP workflows. Certified NDI technology enables low-latency gameplay streaming through OBS/vMix. Note: Encoder and decoder modes cannot run simultaneously; full NDI signals are not supported.
- UVC to HDMI Conversion: Supporting up to 4K@30fps and 1080p@60fps decoding, ZowieBox enables flexible conversion for webcam and video workflows. As a video decoder and HDMI to IP converter, it expands connectivity options for professional video devices. Note: USB capture card functionality is not currently supported.
- All-around Configuration Options: Control ZowieBox through its web UI on a PC, phone, or tablet. Manage connected PTZ cameras, tally light, video/audio, OSD, work mode, streams, network, and system settings. Support for VISCA over IP encoder workflows enables flexible PTZ control, while the dashboard provides video preview and system status.
Choose RTMP or the secure RTMPS URL
RTMP and RTMPS are different connection settings. RTMPS encrypts the connection using TLS/SSL, but the encoder must support it. YouTube recommends a YouTube RTMPS preset when your encoder provides one. Otherwise, in Live Control Room, use the lock control in the Stream URL field to reveal and copy the RTMPS URL. YouTube may show the ordinary RTMP URL by default, so check which protocol you copied before configuring OBS. YouTube Help: Encrypt your stream using RTMPS.
Do not replace the URL with a generic host or path from an example. Copy the endpoint belonging to the intended stream and enter it as OBS’s server URL. Enter the stream key in the separate key field. If OBS offers a YouTube option or preset, use it and supply the key as prompted; if you configure a custom server, use YouTube’s copied URL and key.

Verify the feed from OBS to YouTube
- In OBS’s stream settings, select the YouTube option or preset if available. Otherwise, paste the copied URL into the server field and the copied key into the stream-key field. OBS labels and menu locations can differ by version.
- Start streaming in OBS.
- Return to the intended event in YouTube Live Control Room and wait for the incoming stream status and preview.
- For a scheduled stream, check the preview and confirm the event’s visibility before selecting Go live when you are ready to broadcast.
The preview confirms YouTube is receiving an encoder feed; it does not itself start a scheduled public broadcast. YouTube supports public, private, and unlisted visibility. For a rehearsal, YouTube recommends testing a live stream and allows you to choose public or unlisted before it starts. Create a YouTube live stream with an encoder; YouTube live streaming tips.
Allow enough upload bandwidth and setup time
YouTube recommends upload capacity with 20% headroom beyond the total bitrate of the stream. Consider the outbound capacity actually available to the streaming device: other users and devices on a shared connection can reduce it. If the feed reaches YouTube but becomes unstable, check upload bandwidth rather than relying only on download speed. YouTube live streaming tips.

YouTube’s preparation guidance suggests setting up 2 hours ahead and starting the encoder 15 minutes before a scheduled event. These are recommendations, not technical requirements. They leave time to catch a wrong key, endpoint, or account issue before the planned broadcast. The figures are from YouTube Help, accessed October 3, 2026.
Troubleshoot connection and preview problems
- OBS reports a startup or authentication error: return to the intended stream in Live Control Room, copy its current key, and replace the saved value in OBS. If you connect OBS through an account-login integration instead of a manual key and that integration fails, YouTube advises contacting the software provider. Troubleshoot your YouTube live stream.
- OBS appears to stream, but YouTube has no preview: check that the event selected in Live Control Room matches the stream you configured in OBS, and recopy that event’s URL and key. Check the channel’s live eligibility and any activation delay as well.
- RTMPS SSL error: verify that the protocol and server URL are both the RTMPS values supplied by YouTube and that the encoder supports RTMPS. YouTube says port 443 can be tried when appropriate; retain the actual host and path shown in Live Control Room rather than substituting a generic endpoint. Encrypt your stream using RTMPS.
- Connection times out: recheck the copied URL and confirm RTMPS support if you selected the secure endpoint. YouTube Help: Encrypt your stream using RTMPS.
- You suspect the key was exposed: have a channel owner or manager reset it in Live Control Room, then update OBS with the replacement. Editors and viewers cannot reset a key. Manage live stream settings.
- The preview connects but the feed is unstable: check outbound bandwidth and shared-network use, and retain YouTube’s recommended 20% headroom above the combined stream bitrate. YouTube live streaming tips.
HDR is a separate workflow from ordinary key-and-URL verification. YouTube’s OBS guidance for RTMP HDR includes a minimum OBS version of 30.1; do not apply that special-case requirement to a standard stream. Stream HDR video on YouTube.
