To verify a Bitcoin or BNB transfer, find its transaction ID or hash in the sending wallet or exchange, then look it up on an explorer for the exact network used. Check that the explorer shows the expected destination and amount, then interpret its status and confirmations against the recipient’s requirements. A sender’s “completed” label does not by itself prove the receiving wallet is showing the asset.
1. Find the transaction ID and identify the network
Open the sending wallet’s transaction details or the exchange’s withdrawal record and copy the transaction identifier. Bitcoin calls it a transaction ID or TXID; on BNB Smart Chain (BSC), it is usually called a transaction hash or TxID. Search by this identifier to inspect one specific transfer. Searching a public address instead shows its broader transaction history. Bitcoin.com’s support guide explains how to search using a TXID or address.

Before choosing an explorer, check the network named in the sending record. “BNB” can refer to different networks, and explorers are not interchangeable. For a current BNB Smart Chain mainnet transaction, use BscScan or another BSC explorer. BNB Chain’s wallet configuration guide lists BscScan and identifies BSC mainnet with chain ID 56.

2. Check that the explorer result matches the transfer
Open the transaction result and compare it with the sender’s record. Explorer layouts and labels vary, but confirm these details before concluding that the transfer reached the intended destination:
- Network: The explorer must match the network specified by the sending wallet or withdrawal record.
- Recipient: Compare the full destination address, not just its first or last few characters. A transaction sent to a different address will not be redirected by the explorer or wallet.
- Asset and amount: On Bitcoin, check the relevant output and amount; a transaction can have multiple outputs. On BSC, check the token and token amount as well as the recipient. Do not assume a BNB transfer and a token transfer are the same asset.
- Status and block information: Check whether the transaction succeeded, whether it has been included in a block, and the displayed block or confirmation details.
- Fee and time: Compare the fee and timestamp or block information with the sending record where available. Bitcoin explorer pages commonly show the sender, recipient, amount, fee and confirmation status. Bitcoin.com’s guide describes these transaction details.
An explorer shows public data recorded by the chain; it does not determine whether an exchange or recipient considers the transfer sufficiently confirmed. The recipient’s own deposit or payment policy governs when it credits funds.

3. Interpret Bitcoin confirmations
Zero confirmations: broadcast, not yet included
A Bitcoin transaction with zero confirmations has been broadcast but is not yet included in a block. It is pending inclusion, not confirmed. A wallet or service may display it as pending, and its status can change as the network processes transactions. Bitcoin Developer Documentation distinguishes unconfirmed payments from those included in a block. Bitcoin payment-processing documentation explains the distinction.
One or more confirmations: included, with risk decreasing as blocks accumulate
One confirmation means the transaction is included in a block. Each subsequent block adds another confirmation and makes a reversal less likely, but no confirmation count makes reversal mathematically impossible. Bitcoin Developer Documentation notes that a one-confirmation transaction still has a real double-spend possibility because a recent block can be replaced. Bitcoin’s developer documentation covers this risk.

Bitcoin.org says blocks are added approximately every 10 minutes on average, but block discovery is probabilistic; this is not a timer or a guaranteed wait. Low-fee transactions may take longer. Bitcoin.org also describes six confirmations as a common cautious convention, not a universal acceptance rule or guarantee. The appropriate threshold depends on the recipient’s policy and the value and risk of the payment. See Bitcoin.org’s confirmation FAQ.

For BSC, first verify that the transaction succeeded on the network used, then match the recipient address and token or BNB amount. BNB Chain documents a dual-layer finality approach: its economic fast finality is reached by block n+2, with an approximate transaction finality time of 3.75 seconds under its stated 1.5-second block-time mechanism. That describes BNB Chain’s documented mechanism; it does not guarantee that an exchange or recipient will credit a deposit in that time. Consult BNB Chain’s finality documentation for the chain-specific explanation.

5. If the funds do not appear in the receiving wallet
A transfer can be recorded on-chain even when the receiving wallet does not display the asset. Work through these checks in order:
- Confirm the network: Compare the network in the sender’s record with the network currently selected in the receiving wallet. For a BSC transfer, the wallet needs to be viewing BNB Smart Chain.
- Check the transaction result: Look up the hash on the correct explorer and verify success, destination address, asset and amount. If the transaction failed or the destination differs, the wallet’s display is not the underlying issue.
- Check token visibility and support: If a BSC token transfer succeeded to the right address but is not visible, check whether the wallet supports or displays that token. The asset can be on-chain without appearing in the wallet’s default token list.
- Check project or distribution status where relevant: Consult the token project’s official announcements, status updates or distribution details if the transfer depends on a token launch, claim or distribution.
- Ask the receiving service about its crediting policy: An explorer confirms what the chain currently records; the receiving exchange or service determines its own deposit requirements and processing.
BNB Chain’s BSC FAQ addresses cases where a sender reports a completed USDT transfer but the receiving Phantom wallet shows nothing, and recommends checking the network, transaction and token context. You need only a public transaction hash or address for an explorer lookup. Never share a seed phrase or private key to verify a transfer.
