You can use a rugged phone’s built-in Camera app to record action-oriented video, but the available modes, stabilization, buttons and mounting options depend on the exact model. Find your phone’s manual, set up a short test recording, and check the footage before relying on it.
Find the right instructions for your phone
Start with the exact model name, then open its official manual. Camera controls and features vary between models, so instructions for another rugged phone may not match yours. For example, Ulefone’s official manual index is organized by model and series and includes the Armor 28 Pro.

Set up a short test recording
- Open the built-in Camera app. Select Video. Treat this as a general starting point, not a guaranteed menu sequence; consult your manual if the labels or layout differ.
- Check the options your phone actually offers. Look for resolution, frame rate, lens selection, stabilization and recording controls. Do not assume another model has the same choices.
- Choose a suitable mode and leave storage headroom. Higher resolution can create larger files, and there is no universal recording-time or file-size estimate for rugged phones. Check free storage before you start.
- Position and secure the phone. Hold it steadily or use a mount confirmed to fit your exact device. Keep the lens clear, and check battery and storage before filming.
- Record and review a brief test clip. Check framing, focus and sound, and confirm the intended lens and mode were used and stabilization is enabled if available. If movement, audio or the image is not acceptable, adjust your setup before the activity.
Stabilization and shortcuts are model-specific
The Armor 28 Pro illustrates why it is worth checking the exact model’s controls: Ulefone advertises electronic image stabilization and describes a physical key that opens camera mode with a long press and captures with a gentle press. Those are manufacturer-described features of this model, not universal rugged-phone instructions. Ulefone also cautions that camera software functions and names can vary by software version and device.

Use mounts and outdoor protection carefully
A mount can make hands-free recording possible, but fit is device-specific. Ulefone lists the Armor Mount Pro as a separately sold accessory and also lists a sports armband for the Armor 28 Pro; availability can vary. Check the current accessory listing and confirm compatibility with your phone before buying. Do not assume an armband will stabilize footage.
For water exposure, follow the limits and precautions for your particular phone, and check that the device is in good condition. Ulefone says the Armor 28 Pro’s IP68 rating was tested under controlled laboratory conditions under IEC 60529, to a maximum depth of 2 meters for up to 30 minutes. The company warns that resistance can decrease with normal wear, accessories are not water-resistant, charging and audio plugs should be tightly inserted before water exposure, and a wet phone should not be charged. Those stated conditions and cautions apply to the Armor 28 Pro; they are not a guarantee for a worn or damaged device or a rating to assume for another phone.

What a test clip can—and cannot—tell you
A test recording can reveal whether your chosen framing, focus, sound, storage and stabilization settings work for your setup. It does not establish how long the phone will record, how it will perform in every action scenario or what image quality another rugged phone will deliver. The available model information does not provide a controlled performance comparison, so judge your own phone with a test clip rather than relying on a general quality claim.
